I think to each their own - boiling is just not for me. My sister did it that way. Mine were always considered the best.. not that hers weren't good..
I also peel the membrane on the back too.
Oh, I know a lot of restaurants do boil there meat. I have found that I don't like a lot of bbq from retaurants.

There are a million ways to cook a rack of ribs. Boiling is a part of a method that have been around a very long time right here in Texas. Direct heat and indirect heat are just 2 forks in the road. Low and slow or in a hurry, ribs can be, fall of the bone tender, using either method. The method you choose to cook takes the meat to where you want it to be. Then, you have to decide how you want it to taste! Up north they use peach preserves to flavor meat. That is a great idea in peach country. Like I said, there are millions of ways ~

Texassmoker, I don't think your recipe or ribs are any good. You are going to have to have me down at your ranch, shoot some hogs, cook some ribs and let me see for myself.....I am joking! Sounds good. Thanks for posting the recipe. I am always open to hear about new ideas, that is how you learn things.

I have cooked ribs all different ways. The crab boil sounds like an interesting idea that I will try. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

In this case boiling makes them tender faster and with the Cajun boil it adds a lot of spice. I use louisiana crab boil. I think the powder makes them spicier. I like to boil them till the meat starts backing of the bone a bit then let them soak for 30 minutes. Light the grill and throw some BBQ sauce on them. You can also add sausage, corn and red potatoes to the boil as an easy side. Texassmoker thanks for sharing I had forgotten about this. May break it out next week.

Its a 1 &1/2" thick at the most piece of meat, You can only get so much spice on or in it. Not saying it wont work just dont understand all the extra work and mess.

Sorry for the late update. I had to come up to Colorado for business this week and haven't been on much. Here goes: My wife loved hers. I boiled them and then seasoned them, put them on the grill and brushed them with a brown sugar bbq sauce once in a while. Again, she does not like the smokey flavor. As for mine, I boiled, seasoned and put them on the smoker. They were good as well. To be honest, I think that the smoked ones would have been just as good doing it my old way...seasoned and smoked for 2hrs then wrapped in foil for last 2hrs. I will say that I don't think my wife's would have come out as good if I had just put them on the grill and not boiled them. It was fun trying something new and I will probably do hers that way again since she liked them so much. Thanks again for sharing a different way to do things.
