ATF gray area on these, the adapter is registered as the suppressor. The filter is a suppressor part, so legally a C2 is needed to replace the filter. Individuals can only replace wipes themselves, and ATF has declared that the filter would not be looked at as a wipe.
Stupid rule, but it is what it is.

Yeah I would love to hear NFA Branch opinion on this...

These things do the same thing, its pretty sketchy really. The one that is supposedly approved or that. What's more it doesn't seem like that is really going to muffle a lot of sound with the design of a oil filter.

It seems like the filter would start on fire. But I guess with the lack of oxygen it can't.

Well, there is a lot of smoke pouring outta the filter after that full auto burst...

Why the adapter? Just thread barrel to fit filter.

Have you seen some of the older silencers designs, pretty similar to some of the oil filters with metal internals

Looks like the plate is in front of the exit holes around the center of the filter to keep crap from blowing directly back in your face.

Most barrels aren't that big in outside diameter - most filters are threaded 1/2" non-tapered pipe (conduit) threads - did a lot of offroad remote filter re-locations....

Not to get off topic but did anyone watch the "exploding pellet" video that was advertised when the suppressor video was over?

Kids like that in basements kind of scare me for some reason...

I guess if a pellet gun is all your mom will let you have when your 30 that's what you do. It was pretty funny though all that work for a pellet gun. I personally would love to see the restrictions lifted off Suppressors. There are representatives from many of the big name companies that have been meeting with government people attempting to get the backlog lifted and make it simper to own one. I don't understand the "need" for so much restriction its as complicated to do that as making an SBR or anything else. Makes no sense considering all it does is making shooting safer and more enjoyable. I guess when they only get their education from hollywood they think of the hired assassin and the pft pft sound.

The explosive pellet seems more like a nifty novelty to try once or twice. There's alot of time involved and it's certainly something I wouldn't have taken the time for when I was 10 and shot pellet guns.
