almost done with first ar, planning on building another with sbr and supressor. Question i have is when i fill out the paperwork fo the stamp, do i pay for the supressor then, or can i pay for it when everything comes in? looking to spread out the pain a little. About done with 223, what should i build next for? want a 10 inch barrel and supressor.

It depends on the Dealer, some ask for all of it up front, others like us only ask for a minimum deposit if its being ordered then more when it comes in, or half if its in stock and you pay out the rest as you go along. We have found it works well and helps most people out and we are happy to do it.

You have to pay for the suppressor first at which time the dealer will hold it for you and prepare a Form 4 for you to mail to the ATF. You will then mail in a $200 check with Form 4 to ATF and then wait until it is approved and sent back to the dealer at which time you can take possession of the suppressor.

The dealer must hold your suppressor you bought specifically for you because they have serial numbers that are on the Form 4 that is sent to the ATF.

You can wait as long as you like after purchasing the suppressor to send in the $200 check and Form 4 to the ATF but that will only delay the time until you get to take it home.

I just got one from Chuck on here, got the titanium one with the QD system, its great. Like some said before, I paid for the thing up front, then he held it till my Form 4 came back. Something to consider is get the .308 can, that way if you build a bigger bore upper than a 223 you can just get a $100 part and use your supressor on more than one round, thats what I did.

HHUUMMMM, what to write, what to write, I got nothing.

We used to not require payment up front, but now require it. Can't imagine how many stories I heard when it was time to pay (lost job, wife lost job, yadadada).

I liked my QD and I was happy I waited untill they (AAC) came out with the 51T mount as it was obvious the 18T mount was a terrible design whistle. 2 months later they announced the 91T mounts laugh. And no, you can't use your can on the newer mounts. I will be getting screw on cans from now on. The QD definately has the cool factor, but I don't want to worry about finding mounts that are no longer produced in the future.

When I placed my order with SilencedAmerica I had to pay for everything up front. I wouldn't expect any different though as I was prepared for the cost. That was only a few weeks ago though so I still have a long time until I get it.

If you're serious about lightweight cans, the SAS Arbiter .30 cal titanium can is probably the best (or least?) bang for the buck. http://www.suppressedarmament.com/

I have personally listened to the SAS Arbiter next to an AAC Cyclone and it is noticably quieter. The best part is in comes in 3 mounts, and it weighs half as much - 12.4oz shocked It is also rated for full auto fire, and up to .300 win mag. It suppresses 5.56mm very very well. They also have a shorter version now available. The best part is it's very inexpensive (Check with your class 3 dealer, as the actual cost can be much less than the MSRP). I can make a suggestion for a local dealer which will give you a great price.

There is no can on the market with those specs and value - and it comes with a lifetime warranty to boot. I would seriously consider it if it sounds like something you might be interested in. The Arbiter is very popular with long range target shooters because of its nearly non existent POI shift - you can read many reviews on snipershide.com.

Yankee hill has good price to value as well. Most of the time yu are going to pay for the supressor up front. But some dealers will take an extended payment plan but the price will be higher

I agree, I looked at going with QD mounts, but threading seemed to be the way to go. The barrel is threaded anyway and if you are using QD then every manufacturer has its own mount. It is a whole lot easier to buy a $35 thread adapter than a QD mount for every gun you want to use it on and quite a bit less expensive as well.

I like QD mounts the best. Makes taking it one and off a snap. You have a functional flashhider or brake when not in use. QD are way less likely to have a baffle strike (thread on will often start to unscrew themselves, so must be checked constantly). In 5 years of selling and shooting cans all the baffle strikes I have seen are on thread on models (we have had 3 on our own guns, one three months ago at a FW Law enforcement demo).

If its only going on one gun, like a dedicated longe range rig I don't mind going thread on.

In long range shooting the QD's do not perform well.

It depends on how the qd is designed.

That's not always true, it depends on how the rifle is built. My accuracy international is just as accurate using my QD as my buddies is using a thread on Sandstorm. (same guns #10 contour MTU , built by same guy)

QD suppressors are far and away more popular than thread on, not even close.

This is old pic (have much better glass now)

10 shot group

Have taken it 1k many times and it performs awesome with QD.

SureFire claims with their's you lose no muzzle velocity, unlike with AAC, GemTech and the rest of the bunch. Do you have a trust set up or will your CLEO sign off?

I've never heard of any can losing velocity, most gain velocity when used.

The only cans that i have seen loose velocity is a old school MAC can that a customer has that used wipes and on COD lol

Larue did a test with the big can companies and found that the AAC showed around 50fps increase and killed accuracy while the SF, YHM, GT, etc showed about 10-20fps and increased accuracy

The 18T and 51T mounts from AAC are a poor design in my book and after seeing a can pop off of the 51T mount at SAL shoot i wont get one

I have a YHM 556Ti and 762Ti(pending) for sale 556 $775 762 $850

well yeah at 100 yards it's probably not going to have as much of an effect. But at 1000 yards the difference is pretty considerable. In F-Class one of my shooting buddies tossed on his QD Cyclone and his groups opened up to about 3x the original pattern. My Arbiter increases the group very slightly.
