Every year about this time I start seeing a lot of dove hunts for those of us in and around Austin being advertised on Craigslist. For some reason, I'm not seeing any this year. Wonder what's up? I'm looking to find an opening day hunt for my oldest kid and my hunting buddy around Austin/Leander and was counting on seeing some of those Pflugerville hunts being advertised this year. If anyone knows where else to look, lemme know. Otherwise we'll hit up a WMA again this year which is always a good time. Since I've got the little one following me again this year, I'm hoping to find a place that's not overcrowded. Thanks.

A lot of them might be full already due to Dove season actually opening on a Saturday this year. Which will probably make the public hunting more crowded as well.

The Dove outfitters and leases on THF are posted in the outfitters and guides forum, some may be in the land and leases forum.

What part of craigslist do you search for that?

I bet most places are booked already. Here's a guy in Pflugerville with day leases that I've used before. Charlie: 512-627-9300.

IF/when anyone calls him, ask him if he knows who leases the property on 685 behind the HomeDepot. THAT is where you wanna be wink Ol' man Kuempel and I go way back. Leased/managed many properties of his years ago. He ain't got much left now. Developement ruined that frown

I just use the search box and search "dove hunt" under "for sale"

I know the spot you're talking about. I've hunted across the way years ago. It was awesome. Pflugerville has a lot of more dove than south of austin.

Depends where south of Austin wink My private east of Buda swarms every year. 95% mournings though. Got grain fields bordering 3 sides of me and I have 25 and 35 acre tanks just waiting on 'em to come take a drink after their bellies are full. Not to mention the roost for the area in also on my property grin

Got a bud leasing property near Creedmore and out in Elgin/Manor if anyone is still looking. His places are loaded with grub and birds. PM me for his info.

Wow. Great pics! Those your lil ones? I brought my oldest (7) last year out to Granger and she had to teach my buddy how to clean a dove. It was great.

I would love to have you here in Milam County, but, we are already booked. Return hunters,, they say the most. Give me a pm, and if we get a cancel, I try to get you in the mix. We don't advertise much, word of mouth is the best.

That is my daughter, Kendall. She's 11 now but has been in a duck blind with me since she was 5. He shot her first duck on the wing at age 8 and her first dove at 9. Shot her first skirl last year. She's all about being outdoors with her old man. elmer up
