So, I put up a new feeder and after a week, all I got was a series of 3 pics of a nice buck walking within 15 yards of the feeder and not stopping. The other feeding area, we put down corn, but also put down some corn that was soaked in cherry Koolaid for a few days. The deer found that location the same night. Guess what I am doing right now? You guessed it, mixing up some corn with Koolaid! Actually, I did it Monday and put it down around the new feeder. I am betting that the new feeder will have pics this time! If not deer, I know the hogs will find it. Just to let everyone know, once the deer find the feeder, I don't use the Koolaid anymore. I believe the sweet smell helps them find the feeder faster. I should also point out that I don't like putting my feeders on trails. Here is pic of buck thumbing his nose at the feeder.

Maybe they don't like standing at such a steep angle to eat at that feeder.

I know I was just giving your grief. I have put up feeders and had the same thing happen. Sometimes it is something as simple as the camera bugging them at one location vs another.

Appears the buck doesn't like your mowed area.

I also notice that those deer like to hang close to the woods and not in the open areas there.

The other area had a feeder. I just moved it. I put plain corn down and the deer didn't find it in two weeks. I put our the sweet corn (Koolaid added) and they found it the next day. Haven't put any more sweet corn out and they continue to eat there. Not saying Koolaid is the next best thing.....it is just weird that everytime I put it out for a new area, it gets them eating there fast.

This area is only about 100 feet open across with a creek to the west (heavy cover) and a heavily covered trees to the East. Just to the right of the pic are trees. And, right behind the feeder out of the camera focus are trees. It is only about 30 feet from the edge.

Those are waist high weeds! Very rocky right there, would love to put a food plot around the area, but only thing that grows is concrete

Very rocky right there, would love to put a food plot around the area, but only thing that grows is concrete I can tell you how to grow rocks but can't help you on what to put amongst them! But on a side note turnips will grow in the rocks. We used to mix a cup full in with corn in the feeders in rocky areas and let the deer cover them.

Your post is confusing. I put up a feeder to see what was around. No action to feeder. Put Koolaid filled corn arond feeder. Deer came next day. Took feeder down a couple months later to relocate. Fast fowward to 4 weeks ago. I put some piles of corn out around some of my food plots to get better pics. No action. Put out the Koolaid corn. Deer came next day. Continued to just put out plain corn for three more weeks. Deer continued to come. Put up new feeder last week. one week and only a deer cruising by. Put up Koolaid corn on Monday. Will check this weekend to see if deer are now visiting feeder. Verdict: I have almost come to the conclusion that deer smell the sweet Koolaid on the corn and find it faster. Not a scientific study, so I am not making any claims. Just trying to share my experience with other hunters.

I left a water trouph out for the deer but they wouldnt drink out of it. Only 50 yards away I put out a 5 gallon igloo of coolaid... it was gone in a night!
Now im putting 300 gallon totes of coolaid at all my feeders.

No I did a test on it 4 months ago with the water. I accidentaly spilled a glass of coolaid in the water trouph and they finaly drank it and would drink plain water from then on till I picked it up. The ice had no effect.

With all joking aside, I think it is kind of like putting sour grain out for hogs. They don't like to eat sour grain any better than regular grain. They just smell it faster and find it faster. The same with the deer and Koolaid, they don't like it any better, they just smell it faster than plain corn and find it faster.

But, of course this only works if you use my special "blend" of Koolaid.....which can be purchased in the "Buck Crack" aisle at your local feed store.
