Hi all,
My company recently transferred me to our Texas office. I am living in the Grapevine area and need to find myself a place to go shooting. I've done some google searches for places in the area, but it seems like all the places I find are either an indoor pistol range or I have to shoot from the bench the entire time. I shoot all bolt action hunting rifles and like to shoot from various field positions as well as the bench. Anyone have any suggestions on where I should go that would allow me to shoot kneeling, standing, etc. out to at least 100 yards?
Thanks in advance!

I saw both elm fork and quail creek and they both looked nice up until I saw the bench only thing. Great for when I need to sight in, but not really helpful for field practice.
I appreciate the suggestions so far guys, keep 'em coming!

For Information RE: Bench Only...If your ranges have neighbors and any shot should happen to stray, irregardless if it comes from the range, they become the target of the accusation, and probably a law suit...An even if they win, it costs a lot...We have berms so high it's unreal and railroad ties 5ft high down the sides of the front of the benches going to the target and a top on it of RR ties just because of such an incident...and it costs JM a ton of money...Even though we know that it was not us and the alleged shot couldn't have come from the range..And besides most of the rolling around on the ground, and prone shooting is rarely if ever done in most parts of Texas because most hunt from blinds with a rest..Don

Sounded good until I saw the no calibers above 338 rule. I own more guns above 338 caliber than I do below it. Hence another reason I'm not keen on bench shooting. HRPC is just a little bit out of my price range, but thanks for the suggestion. Don, I totally understand the reasoning behind it and I'm not trying to argue about the range rules. I think I'm just a bit shocked as I moved here from anti-gun/anti-hunting California and I kind of figured gun-friendly Texas would have better ranges than California. Guys, really appreciate the suggestion. As for now, looks like I need some friends with some land. Thanks all for the help!

Most of your military bases that have Tx Rifle Assoc. agreements allow competition type shooting, ect and have ranges up to 1000 yds..Bullis used too..but I've not heard from them, and so did Ft Hood as it used to have the Army Sniper Programs..ect.DD

Grand Prairie Gun Club has 100 and 200 yard ranges and they are open to the public on the third Saturday of each month. Gets a little crowded sometimes.
Only at the end do you realize the power of the Dark Side.

Parker County Sportsmans Club, you can shoot your .338 and up (I don't think 50 BMG is allowed though) at 100, 200 and 250 yrds. Alotta people shoot prone out at the 250 range. The 100 range and the 200/250 range have paved area without benches in the way for those wanting to shoot from field positions or prone.
