So cool. I have never actually seen one of those in person. I would love if they made a comeback out here. My dad talks about when they were everywhere out here.

Can you give details on the feeder? Is it just a 5 gallon bucket with small holes drilled in at the bottom?

Yes, that is about it. The metal 30 gallon barrels work better. On them you can drill a hole, then insert a screw driver and pry up on the hole. This creates a v shaped roof over the hole for water to run off. Then fill with grain.

It's a shame they're just about gone from Texas...Only a matter of time,unfortunately.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Never thought I would see a species disappear in my lifetime. Very, very sad.

Neat picture. We have a healthy population this year. I might consider hunting them if I keep seeing 5-8 covies when I make my feed route.
Nice feeder, one like that wouldn't last a day on my leases due to all the hogs.

When I was a kid of say 16, I could take the bird dog out and find 8 to 10 covey just after school, now you are lucky to find one in a 10 hour day, I miss those days. I finally gave up a couple years ago they have all but disappeared here in Oklahoma also.

Move that feeder near some brush. Dive bombing hawks can spot them a mile away.

Wow, that brings back wonderful memories. There is nothing I love more than hearing the call of the bobwhite. I have heard the populations are better this year. Hope they continue to increase and don't disappear altogether. Nice feeder!
