Be careful burning a lot of sick time for play. You never know when you might really need it. My situation was just a simple open puncture wound to my leg out at the lease. Next thing you know I had life threatening flesh eating disease, 3 surgerys, 9 days in the hospital, graft, then almost ended back in the hospital again from a bacterial infection in another part of my body caused from all the IV antibiotics. Currently 9 weeks off sick time and vacation and could be off another couple weeks. My advice, bank as much as they will allow first.

We also have to use our sick days for bereavement leave as well.
Agree with above you never know when you are going to need them.

Plus the fact that they are to be used when you are-altogether now- SICK. Not as vacation or personal days. Yes I am an employer.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Not that is has never crossed my mind, but my Dad had cancer years ago and he was lucky he saved his, because with the surgeries he used it ALL. so I follow in his footsteps. Where I work we also have plenty days off and I have plenty vacation, so it isn't necessary. But, to each his own, I definitely aint condemning you man

I worked for a company that gave you 5 work days of vaction or 1 week no matter how long you worked there. They gave everyone 5 sickdays. They did not ever deny a sick day for any reason. The company reason was that guys were going to take them no matter how many days of vacation they had and they could use them as vacation days at the employees discrestion or save them for when they were sick.

I'm saving mine for deer season. Along with my vacation. If I don't use my sick time I lose it. So damit I'm gonna use them !!!!!! No shame either.

I'm on salary, so I just get all my work done, or sit in my stand and work on the computer when i have to. My vacation days are just that, for vacation. Sick days are for hunting.

Nothing wrong with taking a couple well timed "sick days" during deer season.

"Sick" can be a pretty loosely defined term if you need it to be. I could be having some "mental sickness" and a day in the deer stand or dove field could be just the medicine for it. Glad I've never had to worry about it though. My jobs have all been bid based sub contracting or salary based jobs meaning as long as I was working and completing projects on time then I could do what I want.

Plus the fact that they are to be used when you are-altogether now- SICK. Not as vacation or personal days. Yes I am an employer. x2. If you get sick days, it is because your company has generously agreed to pay you even if you are unable to work. I don't take advantage of sick days by pretending they are vacation days. If your company's policy allows you to use sick days for any personal reason, then it is irrelevant. Otherwise, you are lying to and stealing from your employer. I understand the temptation is very common, but that doesn't make it acceptable.

Just tell them you have an eye problem........you just can see coming in today!!! I agree.....Tell them you have PTDD. Pre traumatic deer disorder. The only cure is to fill at least one tag.
