You don't but you do have to be able to hunt ducks in order to join the Mensa Society.

This is a test, choose your reply carefully

When combined with good friends and great dogs, I find both equally enjoyable....

Yes please.

Beer of the world beware. I'll kill an 18 pack just to watch it die.

Dove offers the upside of higher numbers to shoot at. Dove do taste much better than duck. To he honest I just find the greatest joy and relaxation in pointing a muzzle of a scatter gun at any winged game bird. Migratory or upland, if it flies it dies.

+1 and Very well said my brother grin

Well it's all hunting but its undeniable it takes a lot more knowledge and experience to be a successful duck hunter than it does to be a dove hunter. If it's the truth it's not snobbish but I can see how some would get defensive when faced with that truth.

Lee you are one of the few that I talked about in a earlier post that is a real duck hunter but actually likes dove hunting better. To each his own and I respect that because since you are both your option holds more weight vs the guy that's just a dove hunter saying he likes dove better but does not duck hunt.
To be fair comparing dove vs. duck is not fair to either. Speaking only for myself my kill ratio for ducks is much higher than my kill ratio for dove. That is not to say duck hunting is easier only that majority of targets presented while duck hunting are not as difficult to take. I think for some of us we have hunted dove starting at an earlier age and spent far more days afield hunting dove. We have a lot more info filed away about dove than we realize, thus tend to take it for granted. Most of us did not start duck hunting before we dove hunted, and spent fewer days afield gaining knowledge about the duck. I will be 50 this year and as far as I am concerned I have much left to learn about ducks. Admittedly my calling SUCKS. Knowing this I work very hard to find the X so calling is not as important. If the ducks want to be in a hole they will fly in without one quack from me anyway. Y'all keep on debating!!! Me I have a Rubbermaid tote full of empties to load before 1 September. cheers

Personally, I like to hunt both. The advantage of dove is that its early in the year, its not cold, I am not standing waist deep in water, I am typically with a group of friends and we are having a great time. When I am even luckier, one of the teens are with me trying a few shots as well. We have the mojos and decoys so its fun to try to get them to land in the spread. The only thing missing is the calling...

With ducks, its all about the challenge... Its typically just me, it's cold, its dark, I have my decoys set based on my last hunt or last scouting trip and the wind direction of the day. Its me and the dog, the kids are sleeping and its all about 1) being in the right spot, 2) getting the ducks to come in to the decoys and 3) making the shots that count.

Of the two, duck hunting is definitely more addicting to me but I love both and look forward to each equally...

I only hunt dove, no decoys or calls to jack with. And when a group comes in and you're using a single shot. That's when the badass comes out in ya.

I don't particularly like the taste of duck. Dove is another story.

Sweet, I am a badass, wait until the wife hears the news, she'll be elated.

I like dove hunting, but love duck hunting. Wish for the old days when we still had quail locally, nothing will make you crap your pants and pulse race like a flushing covey, except a flyby of a squadron of teal.

The only reason dove tastes better than duck is bc you only get to eat half a bite at a time. Shove 4 pieces in your mouth without bacon japs cheese onions bell pepper and chili sauce all over em and see how they taste
