Thanks. They built it for their student organization. Kind of a senior "we were here" project. Pit should be around for ages.

You dont realize how much of a beast it is until you cook on it the first time. We broke it in by cooking a about 20 pork chops. Needless to say, we barely used one shelf in the tower. Looking to smoke some briskets for the holidays as a fundraiser.

Very nice job on that pit. That will be serving the alumni for a long time. They should have added Class of 2012 on it somewhere.

They did weld their initials on the back of the smoker body. I am going to get a stainless steel plaque made one day.

I have been thinking about building one like that for a while now. I want a big pit that I can take places if I want but Lord knows I dont need another trailer registration!
I am going to build one like that on skids and be able to just winch it onto my flatbed to use it as a mobile pit or winch it off like in the picture and just use it at the house or ranch.
Nice build I like it.

Very nice indeed. Pretty small baffle for a box that size, but should do.
We never did any projects like that when I was there.
