Saw one male quail in Richardson Tx on a very busy street. It was located near a TI plant on Renner Rd. I tried to flush it but it just ran away, maybe this bodes well for the season.

I have been seeing quite a few pairs and now a few singles in Goliad County but it is very dry. I have seen one covey of about 8-9 of some half grown birds and another of very small chicks. Seeing quite a few in the ditches along the highways since they have been mowed recently. If we get some rain to puddle up some water then I think I will get a large hatch.

It seems like every time we have gone out to the farm we see multiple coveys! Also have some friends who water them all year round.

You've got to be kidding. We live off Renner Rd near Rowlett creek. When I was growing up quail were plentiful around these parts...Where did you see this bird? Near Breckenridge park?

I saw a single male last week in Coryell county about 2 miles south of Gatesville. It was very decent quail hunting around here until about 1990, and then they all disappeared. I guess they're not quite extinct yet.

At the ranch I lease for deer and "quail" in the Rolling Plains, it's still pretty sad. On 7000 acres, we're trying to repopulate from about 3 or 4 coveys. Haven't fired a shot at a quail bird in the past 3 seasons.

Saw the bird about 1/4 mile from Central Expressway and Renner Rd. Could have knocked me over with a feather.

The last few weeks I have been working at/with one of my customers in Wichita Falls. In the field next to the plant I heard 3-4 bob-white calls here and there. So there around I guess.

I was surprised actually for I haven't heard any quail in a few years.

We haven't heard or seen a bobwhite on our place in Kansas for almost 8 years. Last year we saw 2 coveys on the 7 sections we hunt and this spring we were hearing them call every morning and night. I am hopeing to have at least one more quail hunt with my dad on our land before it is to late.

I'd be willing to take that bet if you were referring to the report from Hebbronville. That country is pretty much quail paradise if there is such a thing.

Believe it or not,Dallas cty and Collin cty had tremendous numbers of Quail back in the 70's and early 80's. Even during the real estate boom. I think it has more to do with pesticides, fire ants ,land use changes, and possibly bird flu viruses...Just to name a few. How I long for the good ol' days...Keep on dreaming ,Erath.

I have seen quite a bit around Lavon Lake. I have been doing some scouting for the upcoming dove and duck seasons and have noticed quail appear in good numbers (3-4 at a time).

I lived in dallas for 3 years. (1968 to 1971) I has a great place to run dogs and find lots of quail, just west of the loop. It was off hwy 183.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill
