Go cat fishing that night, and sleep late, then get out around noon. I doubt that I'll be hunting opening week end, toooooo freaking hot for me!!! It's not like I'm starving, I've killed so many deer in my life, I'd rather be driving to a good 3D shoot some where up north.

Deer will be on live oak acorns and be active later in the morning. I will be on stand. Take a book.

Doesn't make a difference to me, won't deter me from sitting in the stand come sunup.

I didn't think it would detour anyone from hunting (exept the heat for some) Just wanted to know if yall thought if there would be a better advantage or not.

A couple years ago there was a full moon the day before archery season opened. Thirty minutes after sunup the buck on my avatar stepped over a hill with 3 Does. I'm so glad I didn't listen to the nay-sayers about hunting after a full moon.

I killed my biggest buck to date during a full moon right at daylight. The way I look at it is look at all the days that you hunt and don't kill and then remember that one where you look down and he is standing at 15 yrds. This opening morning he may be 15 yrds from your tree and you not be there??? I'll be in a tree and I'll send pics around 9:00am lol.

Something that has worked well for me over the years guiding clients during the full moon is we still get out early as normal hunt a couple hours, then grab a quick breakfast then head back out again for a few hours for the mid day hunt. After the mid day hunt we relax for a few more hours then hit the evening stands. Some days are better than others but you can't kill them on the couch. I will be in IL for their opener and I will be in the stand as much as possible during my 5 day hunt.

The heat bothers me a lot more than the moon
I might be hunting, I might not
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Sleep late and hunt middle of the day 10 to 2 has been good for me during the full moon times in the past YUP! That and it will depend on how many acorns are going to be falling. Our October usually is hard to hunt when all of those acorns start falling. Opening weekend I usually go and take does and then start looking at spikes and so forth. If there is a "trophy" or mature buck big enough to take I may do that but it just depends on how I feel at the time.

Slow is smooth and smooth is accurate. "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
