Howdy y'all,
I'm new in TX from CA. Been looking for places to hunt squirrels and not very fortunate in finding any public lands. Today drove out to the LBJ National Grassland near Decatur. Did some walking in the woods and saw one squirrel that I could have shot but I was only scouting and didn't bring my gun. Saw some hog tracks and rooting in a creek bottom that were made when the ground was wet, probably during the last rain.

Anyone who has property with some decent squirrels population, I am willing to pay a trespass fee for myself and my 12 years old son to do some squirrel hunting. I came from 30+ years of hunting experiences and very knowledgeable in guns and very responsible in hunting ethics. Alrite 52 views and no takers. I guess I'm on my own. Sooner or later I will discover some honey holes like I did on public land hogs in CA. Good luck to everyone out there.

I'm not a squirrel hunter but I think there are more of them east of Dallas than west in Decatur.

Some guy told me the same thing. I thought about checking out Caddo National Grassland, but it is in a county that have a squirrel season that will start in Oct. I believe the majority of the counties east of Dallas all have that same season. I want to get a hunt in before Oct. because my work contract might be over by then and I will have to move else where for another job. It may not be in TX.

I've got plenty in my backyard lol
