Everytime I go to the deer lease, I always ask myself, what am going to have to deal with this time.WELL....this time it's donkeys, someone dicided we needed donkeys,to help turn feeders over and eat our food plots. Talked local warrden, sheriff department, and the timber company we lease from, now trying to get with donkey rescue of TEXAS, any ideals

COuld advertise them to sheep or goat owners to use as guard donkeys. It is not like they are trained or anything as a guard donkey, but they have an innate hate for dogs, coyoes, and other predators.

Don't they hunt those thing in Australia?

so here's the deal,1st. thought was shoot them, then thought I would do this the right way, call warden,he tells me to call sheirf department, they tell me to call warden, then I tell all of them I'm just going to load them up,then they said I could get trouble for stealing them, then I asked who am I stealing from. This why so few people any more do the right thing any more. Now for as the pictures go,I do not know how to post pictures, but if you think these might be your donkeys I will learn and you can come get them

Put a forsale ad in the local feed store with pics. That should generate some phone calls if someone is missing them.

Laws have changed in Texas. Its is now unlawful to sale horses, mules, or donkeys without proof of a coggins test in the last 12 months. bang

Next on your list will be the SPCA and someone claiming the donkeys are being mistreated. For those people who calmly say "Load them up" they have not spent much time around donkeys. I had rather load a mad momma grizzly than a burro who is not trailer trained. Be careful, there may be a reason (such as bad attitude) that these animals are not being claimed by the owners.

Did not sayin anything about selling them just advertising them for sale to see if the owner will come forward to claim them.

Good luck. It took us several months to get rid of two that were dumped out here. Sheriff's offices, local ASPCA, animal shelters, they don't give a crap. It actually costs you money to take a donkey to the sale barn, in most cases.

When hay prices began to skyrocket, lots of donkeys were just abandoned. Last summer some @@@@@@@@ unloaded a gooseneck trailer load of donkeys on the county road near my house. The bad part of of the deal was that they were heading toward the highway in a fast trot. I was able to get them turned around about 100 yards from the highway and headed back. We pushed them a couple of miles down the county road until I thought the strays were safely away from the highway traffic and then called the SO and explained that they were now heading at a fast trot into their county. The dispatcher's response was, "Well thanks..now what do I do with them?" smile We both laughed at the situation and she told me that this was becoming common in the county. Never heard anything else and just assumed the owner was found. A few weeks later, I was visiting with my neighbor and he was still mad. It seems that the deputy pushed them on down the road until he found an unlocked gate and donated the donkeys to my neighbors. I am making sure all my gates are locked!!!

In the early 80's the Feds were talking to us about cull shooting
them from the Grand Canyon because of what they did to the enviorment...the Animal Rights Activist got into it..and they
started darting them and using a helo to try and relocate them..
Good Luck..apparently..you guys don't have a shovel?..DD
