I have not had that size Mule but the full size ones. 25 mph is fine on rougher roads and smaller places. The power of a standard Mule is good but not the same as a Ranger. There ride is also rougher than a Ranger. I would imagine that on the 610 you would loose a bit of seating room and space and the payload would be much lower.

If your budget is under 8,000 then you can get into a Polaris Ranger as well. Not sure when I will actually be in the market but both I am sure would be great lease vehicles. I would lean more towards the Ranger personally but again I am not ready nor have I really decided yet smile

I have a mule 610 and it hauls the corn and dead animals pretty good. Plus it fits in the back of my truck. I dont haul it that way to often but i have done it once or twice. My ranch aint huge so the 25 mph speed limit dont bother me. Oh and it has never been in the shop for repair in the 3 years I've owned it! Im happy with mine.

I also have a 610, it's a 2010 model. No problems, more power than I've needed and I've carried big payloads that up hills that were hard to climb on foot. First time up the pucker factor was " full on".

I just went through this same decision. I test drove both the Polaris Ranger 400 and 610xc mule. Went with the Polaris on ride, power, comfort and it fits in the back of my truck. The mule did not impress me much with the air cooled motor and terrible ride.

The Mule is built for ranch work in mind. I have a 2006 610 (first year out) and it's never let me down and never been in the shop. It doesn't go fast and goes even slower since I put a lift and 26 in tires. I use it mainly for deer hunting and riding around. Like others have said, not the best riding thing around; however, it get's the job done and has been a fantastic little UTV.

The polaris 400 is carbed but the 500 is EFI. I believe its a $1200 option and I like simple.

I have the trans mule and the ride isnt that bad....I even put some radials on it and it rides like a truck now....If speed is a concern...25mph is fast enough..we have 1500 acres and it takes me 5 minutes to get from one side to the other...Think about it this way..Would you want to fall out of anything going 25 mph..?..Drive down a dirt road 25 mph in your truck and ask yourself if you would want to jump out the window....?

more accessories and aftermarket available for ranger which makes them a more desireable unit for resale but if your not going to resale then flip a coin. I would also add that water cooled EFI would be nice if you wanted to pay the extra dollars. I have sold at least 10 pre-owned rangers and everyone was looking for a EFI.
