I recently leased property in Burnet County. Upon scouting/setting up my stuff i discovered that the prior hunters (last hunted 2 years ago) left everything. Feeders, game cameras, etc. I've never had this happen before. Wonder why they just up and left over $1000 worth of equipment??????

No place to store it, no trailer available to go pick it up, felt it wasn't worth burning the fuel to go pick it up, etc.

That's the scenario i figured REDGUN. I also heard the contract didn't end smoothly either. The lnadowner gave them 2 years to get their stuff out but they never came so, she finally leased it out to me this year. I just took their stuff down and will keep it there for them if they ever decide to show up I guess.

They may be in the pen. Look around the camp to see if they were stockpiling ephedrine and ether.

If the previous people have been gone two year, and haven't come got their stuff I would consider it abandoned and add it to my inventory. 2 months is more than enough time to get your stuff, if it is valuable to you. 2 years says to me they consider it junk and not worth their time.

It's not theirs anymore. It has been abandoned and now belongs to the landowner.

At least use their game cams.

Hopefully a couple of guys don't show up in September to get "their" lease ready.

never looked, no batteries in them or SD cards either. Basically looks like they made their last hunt and just left! I've even called the guys myself a couple of time trying to be nice but, not a word from them.

You would think people would care enough not to litter someone else's property, expecially school teachers.

Their stands were completely shredded. Trashed the whole place to hell! I spent 3 days just doing clean up!

Amazing how someone would screw others like that.. Sounds like that's not the case here... I'm still floored that crap like that happens...

I would go ahead and use the stuff, but I would also be prepared to hand it over to them if they called or showed up looking for it. I would also suggest changing the locks on the gates if they haven't been changed since their departure.

I dunno. It's a two-way street. Some landowners really take the cake too.

I had a place at Loyal Valley, between Mason and Fredricksburg. All of my party decided to go farther west but I wanted to stay. So I called the landowner and we agreed that I'd fill the remaining 4 spots and take the lease. He said we didn't need to sign the lease or pay until Sept. 01. We went up there in August and found blinds and feeders set up everywhere. Called the landowner again and he said that he didn't think we were going to take the lease...bald faced liar. And this guy is a professor at UT. The nutcase didn't even bother to give us a call and tell us that he was going to lease to someone else.

We gathered our stuff and pulled off.

I'd be careful, check the batteries on the stuff, if they are good I would come close to believing you are either sharing your lease-scammed- or maybe got bad directions and on the wrong lease. If they truly are 2 years old, the are property of the land owner and it needs to be discussed with him. Actually a discussion with the land owner is probably in order anyway.

i rode around the place with the landowner and it was stated that they just never came back. She never leased it out, in hopes they would come back last year. She never heard from them again and finally just leased it to me this year. It was pretty obvious when i went there, no one had been back there in a couple years. Feeders had trees pratically growing next to them. The trails were not cut so, getting a 4 wheeler through was even hard.

Where are you leasing? Because we got off our place in Burnet county recently and left our stuff, havnt been able to come get it yet.
