I just range certain objects in the shooting lanes and keep my distances under 40 yards. And always use the same objects. Ive also quiz myself on the distances while waiting, to make sure I remember then correctly.

That's pretty much what I do to.

Same here. I rarely, if ever, carry a range finder with me when I'm on a hunt. But I take advantage of it to mark my distances before the hunt.

I carry one, but only to check ranges when I first get my climber up in a tree. And also use it when quizzing myself on distances. Aside from that it stays put away since I want to be as still as possible when I see what Im hunting.

I do both depending on the situation. Feeder hunting it's pretty easy to range a deer and take the shot. Hunting a travel corridor with several trails or nondescript travel paths I like to know ranges of objects because a passing deer may not give you time to range and shoot.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.
