So I have had built a savage 111 6.5x47 Lapua. E.R Shaw 1:9 twist #4 contour barrel. Free floated and glassed of course. Rifle Basics trigger. Glass is a FM 8-32x56 illuminated with a 20 minute base. zeroed at 200 and will shoot through the same hole. over a few weeks pushed it out to 967 yards and got 3" groups. So tell me what you think of her.

I am not going to "raise the flag", but I sure would like to go out to the range with you and see it done. That is world class accuracy!! flehan flehan

Not world class. I shoot NRA Palma match and there's guys shooting 1 1/2 inches at 1000. This one is just a longe range hunting rifle. I have another 6.5x47 in the process of being built that will be my tournament rifle. It's built to m40 specs with a few additional upgrades and higher quality glass. So I'm really anxious to see what it can do. It's nothing to shoot distance. The first long range school I went to they had us hitting golf balls at 400 yds by the end of the second day. So as long as your steady, rifle consistant, and know your rifle you can shoot at long ranges. The movies make it look harder then it actually is.

It is a K&G coat that my gunsmith (RP's firearms) did. I like it a whole lot better than Dura-coat because that K&G wont scratch

Nice! I've been thinking about a 6.5x47 Lapua. But the brass is pretty dang high. Although i've heard its super strong and should last a while.

I'm a die hard 25-06 fan but I have recently considered some type of 6.5 but i don't reload YET. So I think thats the only thing stopping me. Maybe a stupid question but...how's the recoil? I feel like i can shoot better in odd positions without worrying about breaking my collar bone but I also need something with a high BC and a fairly flat trajectory for when i dont have time to dope.
