Received my shotgun on my 13th birthday, still use it today, that was 39 years ago, used my dad's gun before that. Those were the days! Here a picture of a good day afield - probably around 1975.

First duck I ever killed was a Woodduck with a Winchester 410 single shot, loaded with #4 shot. I actually killed 2 in one shot. The Hen swam just along the side of the drake when I shot. I was 7 years old. My grandma cooked up those two ducks, and they were the best thing I ever ate. I wished daddy would have taken pictures of us hunting back then. Great to see all the older pictures.

Started Duck hunting in the early 80's... Before they made us shoot Steel shot, I liked the Winchester Double X cooper plated #5 shot... I dropped a wood duck drake at 70 yards plus with it stone cold dead! The thing with lead, not a lot of cripples, like steel. I enjoyed shooting teal, then heading straight to the field to dove hunt, and shot the same 7.5 shot, I think that is why when I dove hunt now, I still use 7.5 shot, just from habit. Good ole times! The first time I went to the blind I was only months old. I am told my mother wrapped me in a blanket to keep me warm. I shot my first turkey and whitetail at 7 years old and never slowed down since then. That was 1974 in Bracketville, Texas. that same year I shot a widgeon on our place in Flatonia, Texas with a remington single 20 ga. That was it for me.
I remember the crap Winchester steel that first year. I almost gave it up but I pressed on. They have come a long way with steel since then. there was nothing more frustrating than to hear the pellets hitting the birds and nothing happening. I have been running the public rat race for a long time. This year will be my first year with just me and my brother on a private lease. It holds a lot of promise. I have hunting the adjacent property for years and seen 100s of mallards pouring into the spot we have. I can't wait.

Shot first duck in 1979 with a 410. I will never forget that day with my now passed away dad. I still hunt with my grandfathers gun that my dad used. 1928 belgian side by side jules gervais 12 gauge. Can only use 1 ounce or less loads and lead only, as stock is getting weak.

My first Labrador Retriever. Her first retrieve was the Canada Goose. He sits in the Living Room. Her last retrieve before she retired was a Buffflehead, he sit in the living room also. Picture is from 1987. I got Roxy as a pup and trained her myself. Today, I hunt with her great grandson. To me, having a good retriever with ya, makes the hunt that much more special. These ol ducks and geese were taking with Remington Express Steel #2 shot. I had the Canada and 3 Green wings, my hunting buddy killed the Speck and 3 Green wings. In those days, that Kodiak 110 someone had to take the picture.lol

Back in the early 80's hunting public. Used Goldens back then and switched to labs in the early 90's. Loved my Goldens but got real sick of the long hair. Back before the boat years, so we used to have to hike in through the briars and the stickons. As far as the steel mandate, the thing I remember is that you could actually hear the pellets strike the bird...some died, some didn't.

Hit the coastal marshes in '79. I can still remember that stinky mud and skeeters..Shot my first bird ,pinny drake, that year. Fed #4 duck and pheasant lead brought plenty of thunda. Shot teal with #8's short brass. Being able to drop 10 pins a day was the schizzle back then. Moved to centex in '85 when I started UT and discovered the freshwater lakes and rivers where I met Mr. greenhead....only been back to the coastal marsh once since. And that was a day that reminded me of why I hadn't been back in so long.

Been hunting ducks since the early '70's. Lead shot. 100 point limits. Shot my first duck, a mallard hen, across an irrigation ditch along the Rio Grande in New Mexico.

I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.
