Well if you would have watched the whole episode you would have seen that there was a specimen hit by a car this spring in Stephenville, TX. Someone even got it on a game camera chasing a deer right before it was hit.

That was my point. No one has brought forth any evidence that proves they exist other than a scientific explanation of the possibility. On the flip side, you haven't provided any proof physically or scientifically that they don't or can't exist.

tsu wildlife, yeah i want to see the whole thing, because all these large feline's look alike for the most part except for some size difference's and markings, but they are all capable of doing some damage. i do believe anything is possible, and they could exist somewhere. everybody on here has shed some light on the subject for me,and maybe one day i can post a pic with a mountain lion i shot.

Don't have to provide evidense that they don't exist, because if they did, someone would have already killed one and there would be a real specimen some where for everyone to look at.
Explain to me, how so many people can claim to have seen one, yet one has never been caught in a trap or snare, run over on the highway, treed by dogs, poisoned by someone trying to get coyotes, or shot by someone, caught in a live trap, born in captivity and the list goes on.
Since the discovery and invasion of the New World by Europeans, There has been NO, specimen of a Black Mountain Lion ever taken by ANYONE.
See, I win nothing or lose nothing either way.
If one is killed or captured, all that proves is that I was wrong and there was at least one Black Mountain Lion.
Unlike many folks that are afraid of being proven wrong, I welcome it, to me, my being right on an issue, any issue is scary.
How can somethings non-existance be proven, or fo that matter be disputed, when there never has been any physical proof that the thing DID exist???????

To me this isn't about being right or wrong; it's about being open to the possibility that they could exist. I respect your opinion. I have a differing opinion and have offered scientific proof that it's possible for them to exist. I'm not saying they do exist, I'm only offering the possibility that they "could" exist. All of your points are valid but it could just be lucky coincidence. That's all I'm saying.

It's genetically possible for a unicorn to exist as well.

Exactly my point - you can't prove they don't exist. I can prove that melanism exists in other animals which opens the door for the possibility of it having occurred/occurring in mountain lions. I can't prove that it has occurred but I can prove that it's possible.

That is where you are reading more, or things into my posts or responses than are there.
My mind is open to all possibilities.
My common sense and pragmatism, along with actual physical proof or lack there of however, is what determines my opinions.
It is just like I am open to the possibility that one day we will have an honest goverment and a President that will do what he says he will.
I don't see that happening in the near future, now do you?????

LOL!! Possible, yes, likely, no! You were so dogmatic in stating they don't exist that, in my opinion, you didn't seem open to the possibility. If I misinterpreted or read too much into it then I apologize.

No need to apologise, just don't read too much into anyone's posts or responses.
Over the years the biggest fight starter on this place or any other forum I have been on is misinterpretation/ or reading more into a post than what is there.
Too many folks try to be amateur physcologists and look for hidden meanings in everything.
One of the reasons why I prefer being out in west Texas, is that when some one says Hello, that is all they mean.
A persons mind can be open to possibilities, but that does not mean they are going to change their base opinion on an issue. JMO.

Just to bring you up to speed on the "Black Panther" issue on this site.
There are Black Leopards and Black Jaguars, both are called panthers.
Leopards are not native to North or South America.
Jaguars, including Black Jaguars are native to North and South Ameirica, and Game Cam photos of Black Jaguars have been taken in Southern Arizona, near the Mexican Border.
Mountain Lions however are a different matter.
Mountain Lions are the most numerous and have the largest range of the New World Cats.
Since before the time of the European invasion of the New World, NO VERIFIABLE SPECIMENS OF A BLACK MOUINTAIN LION HAVE BEEN OBTAINED.
Everyone that claims to have seen one in the wild has some form of excuse as to why they did not shoot the thing.
Indians did not believe in them, they are not immune to being run over by Cadillacs or Semi's, they have no special adaptations to avoid traps or snares or dogs, they can not differentiate between a dying rabbit and a varmint call, and lastly there are far more old S.O.B.s like me that will shoot first and worry about it later, than any one wants to admit.
No Black Mountain Lions have been born in captivity, during the entire time they have been held in captivity.
Now, you can believe that you saw what you think you saw, and I have no problem with what a person believes they saw.
When they start saying that the things really exist, I have a problem.
There are white buffalo, black coyotes and bobcats, but no one has brought forward a verifiable specimen of a Black Mountain Lion, PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't really argue with this at all. Do whatever research that you want, and you'll pretty much get this same assesment everywhere you look.
If there is a big cat around the size of a Mountain Lion that is indeed "BLACK", I would guess that it would be a black Jaguar rather than a black mountain Lion. Jaguars have been on photos here and there in the last few years. There is a such thing as a black Jaguar, and that would be more possible. Highly unlikely, but possible.
