That's a question that is asked often, there is normally more than enough waste from harvest so they stick around and tell all their friends.

No sir, we tried that last season and it took them about 2 days to get back into the field. All the sunflower fields I have will usually be covered up in doves the first couple weeks of the season. There are plenty of grain fields next to them plus the millet and sesame that we plant between sunflower plots. These are just an appetizer for the local birds, it gets really interesting around the second week of Sept. up

Thanks for the comments guys. I can say that in my 10+ years of doing dove hunts I have never seen anything like this when it comes to doves being loaded in a field. I took a video on my Iphone but it is too large to send or upload to a computer without some sort of disk. I wish you guys could see this field at the crack of dawn.

Do ya'll leeave the field as is or do you cut strips before the season. I believe the whitewings prefer the uncut fields.

Al we shred strips in our native sunflowers but we will plow the hybrids after harvest.

We are getting ready for the season already. It will be here soon before you know it up .

These sunflowers were planted late. I have several plots that are going in the ground this weekend. Hopefully these locals invite all their friends in September.

Those pictures were from a plot in Nueces County. We have fields in Kleberg, Nueces, Jim Wells, and San Patricio county. Thank you for the compliment.
