I am in Sherman and looking for someone to do a little work on one of my new rifles. I am ok with an individual or business. I'm just looking for a trustworthy person at a fair price...
Thanks in advance for any help.

Here is my take on gunsmiths.. They are either good, or they are fast; never both..
You are asking for some pretty basic stuff though which most could accomplish, with the last two requiring the most skill..
Be willing to drive or ship your rifle though.. Personally I have never worried where the smith is located, and have shipped rifles to both coasts (ok, honestly, only as far west as Arizona - McMillan)..
One last point.. Once you have your list of potentials, I would go to google and see what you can find has been said about them.. I recently needed some minor gunsmith work and was able to cross off the list a couple which had several less than glowing reviews..
Short of any good suggestions from the list, I'd start with googling "gunsmith Sherman Texas"..

"FTG" I have found a few I can ship to with great reviews online. I just thought I would see if there was possibly someone retired or that smiths on the side that anyone has any personal experience with... Sometimes the people that do the best work are the ones that do it just because they enjoy it. I am willing to ship, I just figured I'd give this a shot.
I agree with your "good or fast" assessment.

I have used Euless Guns, in Euless, TX. to do all my gun smithing work and they have actually built two custom rifles for us. Their gun smith (Todd) is very good but as previously stated in this thread, they are not fast. The owner and his son are great people and really take care of their customers. I would highly recommend them. http://www.eulessgunsandammo.com/

Larry Pockrus in Ponder was recommended to me, he just worked on a rifle and a shotgun and I was satisfied.

Chad Stanley with Titan arms is a great smith and super fast. another smith that is phenomenal is Johnny Glueck at Active Camo/Active Tuning. both have built custom guns for me and they both are very good at what they do.
