A local company, Slide Fire Solutions, is building a product to convert AR-15's and AR-47's into their version of a rapid fire rifle, similar to the "bump" style that has been around for a long time. They must be selling a lot of their products because what was a mesquite pasture not long ago is now several acres of shiny new buildings. One of the videos on the sight is really funny. It shows his mother, who is a retired mail-carrier, shooting away with one of the conversions. Anyone heard of them or their products? Your thoughts! http://www.slidefire.com/http://www.slidefiresolutions.com/ssar15ogr.php

Yep seen um, kinda wanted one, lotta money, not very practical, probaly couldn't (or wouldn't) spend the money to burn that much ammo. AND you probably couldn't shoot at the range....
So I didn't buy one

Just watching them shoot the thing on the video, it looks like it would be tough on the "broad side of a barn" but not very accurate on anything else.

I have a Slide Fire stock for my AK in 7.62X39 and yes it was expensive but to see the smiles on the faces of everyone that fires it: PRICELESS!!!

Haha. I've only heard of suck a product but never looked into it until this post. I was skeptical at first but now think it's a great idea.

Its dirt cheap compared to real transferrable machine guns. It fills a niche for sure.

I purchased a Slide fire for my AR. I got lucky and found a nice lower for cheap so I mounted the Slide Fire to it to keep it separate until I want to shoot it. While I will say that it was pricey I agree with DallasShootingSupplies it is far cheaper than purchasing a fully automatic weapon.
I have never had a problem shooting at the range, it is like anything else if you aren't out there spraying bullets all over the place then you probably don't have problems. Also for the people that say that it is not accurate all I can say is that shoot one before you make that conclusion. My dealer and a couple of us were very skeptical of the stock, so since he has a good working relationship with the PD they brought there automatic M4's out there, they shot head to head and if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I would not believe, not only did the Slide Fire empty a 30 round magazine faster it had a smaller grouping. You are not going to have a .5" grouping but the stock doesn't "walk" like traditional automatic weapons. I had the opportunity to shoot M16's and 249's in the military and the Slide Fire Stock is amazing.
I will of course endorse a product that I purchased and enjoy. You can waste a whole lot of ammo, but show me a shooter that has gone to the range and can tell you that they never wasted any ammunition. It is about enjoying your self. Like PonchoMike said the smiles are PRICELESS. Shooting is a hobby and a past time for my family and friends, when I can take the Slide Fire out and see a smile so big it is worth it to me.
I can admit that the Slide Fire is not the prettiest stock, but once it is on the AR it isn't that bad. It has a lock feature so you can still use the rifle as a single shot. I switched to a second lower because I keep my MapPul Adjustable Stock on my AR as a daily shooter. I would recommend anyone that has a chance to fire one to do it. They aren't for everyone, but they are a very cool addition to any collection.
AEB, if you are anywhere near San Angelo in April I will give you my number and go to the range with you and let you shoot mine.

I'll probably end up getting one soon. Better do it soon. I bought one and can't believe the BATFE gave it a pass. I read the letter they sent back to the company. Still doesn't make sense, but then again the BATFE should never be in the same sentence with that word anyway. Yes they are ugly. But do a quick check of YouTube and you will see they are also compatible with many dedicated AR22 platforms like S&W's little tactical .22 Now who doesn't want to go through a brick of .22's on what equates to full auto? And once you get the technique down, they are more accurate than you would think. The 9mm video at the indoor gun range produced a very tight group. Much cheaper than the Fostech Bumpski. Not sure they even have a model for the AR's yet. http://fostechoutdoors.com/

Now who doesn't want to go through a brick of .22's on what equates to full auto? Now that sounds like fun! Would love one on my GSG. Maybe I need to buy the M&P 22 and one of these.

I read this thread yesterday morning and went to the gun show to get the parts for a cheap AR build to see how much fun it is and there was a guy selling An Aluminum version that gets rid of the slop in the stock. So i bought one with some other things, i think i will have it dipped some crazy color and have a Fun Gun! I know some of my clients will like shooting it good way to blow off some steam. It will take me a month or so since i ordered one of those $99 lowers already and just waiting on it to come in. But i will put up pics after it is built and dipped so everyone can get a good laugh! Life is too short you got to have a little Fun

The guys at Arlington Tactical Arms said they have both the old and new version installed for like 175.00 for the old one and 350.00 for the new one.I have not had one installed but have on a number of occasions run a hundred dollars out of one with a buddy of mine's smiling just a bit.

I shot one this past weekend. My dad bought the new version and I'm not very accurate with it at all lol.
I'm a lefty and was shooting the right handed version and it can be made to work.

I live about 9 miles from that facility and I can tell you that they have sold way more than you can imagine. The stock allows you to shoot extremely accurately considering that you are putting between 650-900rpm. When we first went out to try one out we put a Beta mag on one of our rifles and held the group at 14 inches for 100rnds without releasing the trigger from unsupported standing position. Oh, did I mention that it was at 100yds? Try that with a M16. Not going to happen.

Hmm, such a simple design I wonder if I could build one with using some extra stock and grips I have laying around.....

I have one on my Saiga conversion in 7.62X39. Surprisingly controllable with the AK74 muzzle brake. After 2 mags I was able to do 3 shot bursts into a silhouette at 25 yards and was hitting 2 out of 3 at 50 yards most of the time. Not bad. Tons of fun but boy can you burn up some ammo.
