I own a rock island armory 1903, its all original all parts matching from 1919, never saw war so its in excellent condition, still has its original barrel from 1919, my problem ive had with it since ive gotten it is that every couple rounds it jams up ejecting the spent casing now. i fire the gun as im pulling the bolt back i get half way over the internal magazine and it starts to get real tough to keep pulling the bolt back. once the bolt reaches the ejector it stops and i have to push the bolt slightly forward again then yank it back as hard as i can to get it to eject. now it only does this every couple rounds. i know finding someone who has alot of knowledge on these firearms may be slightly difficult. but i understand this is an old firearm if its just the way it is cause its old thats fine but i would like it to be that smooth 03 action ive read so much about. ill try to get pics next range day

It should definitely eject and cycle very smoothly. Seems as if the bolt could be rubbing somewhere? Does the bolt cycle smooth when the rifle is empty? Is the serial number lower than 286500?

Probably dirty. Have you cleaned it?

Something does not sound right, that should be a smooth operating boltaction. Could be dirty, rough spot or something else, would clean it well and get it checked bu a gunsmith. THEBBC on here most likely could help you. Would also bet the guys at S&S precision know that action.

Its clean religiously more so then anything I own, i took completly apart today, pulled out the old ejector cleaned it and its housing on the side of the receiver, cleaned also where the bolt interacts with the ejector as well, and its a 380,000 serial number range

Reloads or factory ammo? Have you had the headspace checked?
