I want to spend about $5K max and I am looking for a really good small 4x4 Vehicle.

I just got on a new lease around Blanco, Texas and I have never hunted the Hill Country before. There is about 60% of the ranch that I would not take my 4X4 F-150 King Ranch down and of the roads and terrain.

Very Steep Hills, Rocks, Inclines, Massive Brush Hangover and small tight corners. They have a 4x4 Bronco now and it is Huge compared to the roads and some of the terrain you have to go up and down in this thing.

I am looking at good options.

Here are a few that have been thrown my way.

Suzuki Samaruai
Polaris RZR4

I want something 4 seater.

Thoughts?

We just sold our 81' CJ7 for $3500. It would have been perfect.

I'd go with a jeep. Easy to fix up and maintain and parts are normally easy to get. I just got done completely fixing up my 74' CJ. and I love it!

Dodge single cab short bed with a 318 and 4x4.

Love jeeps but ride sucks... That dodge is light with the little v8 and will go any where, plus you can but a high rack in the back

For me personally it would be a 4x4 Toyota Tacoma. Small enough, tough as nails, and has a bed to haul corn and animals.

We have an S10 Blazer that we paid $350 bucks for at an auction three years ago. Brought it home and replaced the sbattery and haven't put a dime into it since... Gets me everywhere I need to go!

I agree and I have one (not for sale) but you'll have a hard time finding a decent one for 5k...

Japenese mini-trucks. Search Craigs list. They sell for $3000 up to $10000.

Theres a Mercedes Benz version of this in Helotes or NW SA with a trailer.

I think they were asking over 5 though.

Well, I'm referring to the early 80's versions. You can generally find them for ~$3k in various states of repair.

This is what I use. "92" model 3" OME lift, 31's, A/C, hauls 4 in style, 165,000 mi. Bought it for $2800 couple of years ago just like she sits.

I would build a stout bumper for the bronco and go wherever I wanted. Thats what I'm about to do with my k5.

I built a huge bumper for my K5 and it works great.

All the vehicle suggestions are great ones. I love my K5.... it in my mind is the ultimate hunting rig.

to get a 4 seater tacoma you will be in a 2001 unless you consider the mini back seat of the extended cab useful. The 2001 4 doors start at about $8k

I am looking for a 4runner for myself to use, I have a suburban now but it is just too big..

the mid 90's model 4 runners are pretty rugged and you can pick them up for $3-$5k all day with ac and heat..

X2

K5's can pretty much be built to do it all, plus solid front axles!!

Jeeps are the ultimate 4x4 no doubt, I've had one as old as 1954 and one as new as 2005, but I think the K5 Blazer is a better hunting rig....

I like the extra room in a K5 relative to a jeep, but where I go, I need a tighter turning radius and I want the ability to quickly eject when all else fails.

My lil 54 Willys CJ3B, went places most 4x4's couldn't reach for that exact reason, I could go through, most had to go around.....but then again, it only had an 80" wheelbase...lol

Old Toyota truck or 4-runner with 4 cylinder engine (unless you need to tow stuff). Light, doesn't bog down. Sips gas cruising around the ranch. Very quiet. Bulletproof.
