I was doing some cleaning in my backyard stuffing twigs into a bag and saw this little guy. I was wondering what kind of snake you think it is? It was beheaded because im not sure what kind of snake it is and my kids were in the back yard. Thanks in advance.

Hard to jdentify when that small and without the head. Might ask Nighthunter about presentation on the plate though.

While still limber snakes that size work great for bass bait cheers

Looks like what we as kids used to call a "decay snake." If it is, it's harmless. We found the majority of them under pot plants... If it is a decay snake, it's the healthiest one I've ever seen!

I killed one no to long ago. It was eating frogs in a tank and was about 3' away from my toes. I put a 22 round in his back and he went bezerk. Then he drowned or something but he didn't reappear.
