Looks like they are having a big recall. Brands included in the recall include: •Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul •Country Value •Diamond •Diamond Naturals •Premium Edge •Professional •4Health •Taste of the Wild http://diamondpetrecall.com/diamond-expands-voluntary-recall/#more-210

I fed Diamond premium adult for years. Was really satisfied with it and only changed because my cohert down the road orders pallets of dog food, and I simply go get what I need, and leave the money for it in a place we have agreed upon. This is the second recall on Diamond products in not so many years.

I unfortunately have a bag of taste of the wild puppy food with a code that fits the recall. It was bought via amazon with free shipping and came from out of state, so returning to the store is not an option.

Purina has the largest reserch center in the world. I've always stuck with one of their brands. I'm now using Dog Chow and Cracker is gaining weight.

Canidae has also called a voluntary recall, even though none of their food has been found to be contaminated.

I looked at there site I'm guessing that that plant specializes in meat/rice combinations mostly lamb. I'm hoping that it's a contract plant because I use the Natural Balance Duck/Potato food because my dog is allergic to grain. I am concerned.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

I was feeding Diamond Naturals and started integrating Taste of the Wild. It looks like I'm snake bit on both. There is a site that had distribution states that showed where the food was distributed to. Fortunately, Texas and Oklahoma weren't involved. That still doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet.
No bad days hunting

I dropped Diamond a few years ago just because of this. This is the second or third recall they have had in less than five years. I switched to Purina One Lamb & Rice and they all love it & do great on it. Feeding it to 8 dogs.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I've had good luck w/Diamond including the lamb and rice from Costco..my wife's high dollar Mastiffs have a corn allergy, so my choices are fairly short and they eat about 2-300 bucks a month, so I'm not going to $50 a bag plus Purina if I can help it....I get the reg Hi Protein Diamond from the Feed Store in Pipe Creek for just under $30 for 50lbs..and feed it to the hunting dogs in the yd...DD

Ole Roy is not manufactured at this diamond facility. Read the label on your bag and if you are concerned, call them and ask about where the food is manufactured. Ole Roy is not listed as a quality dog food by any of the listings that I have ever seen

It seems diamond has this problem more thn ny other major dog food by far. I dropped diamond several years ago for this reason It's definitely made me shy away from them. I finally gave up on them. We lost a litter due to the Salmonella last Spring. We had several dogs get very sick. While trying to set up a direct delivery with Merrick, we switched to 4Health... big mistake. They are the same. The contamination is throughout the processing plant and affects all lines & formulas. It's been a HUGE mess for us! I switched the dogs to Acana & Orijen to be safe... with the size of our Commando dogs, two pregnant bitches and over 20 of our own dogs you can only imagine the expense! I'm still trying to get set up with Merrick Whole Earth bulk deliveries. In the meanwhile, our crew is on Blue Buffalo - the big'uns are on the Wild formula. That was the last straw for me with Diamond, 4Health or any of those lines. Y'all be careful. Some of our toughest dogs were very sick.

There is a site that had distribution states that showed where the food was distributed to. Fortunately, Texas and Oklahoma weren't involved. That still doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet. I'd be careful. When the Spring recall was announced, there were signs all over the TSC where we buy stating that the feed was NOT affected by the recall. I still double-checked with the manager who assured me it was safe. We lost a litter and had several dogs down. Same symptoms re-appeared with 4Health feed just last week - I didn't need to hear about a recall (again) to know what was going on. I chunked about $350 worth of feed into the trash and turned around and switched 'em all to Blue Buffalo. Hate to do it cold turkey like that, but I'm done watching good dogs get sick! These inconsistencies have cost me over $2K in vet & feed bills, plus loss of an entire litter which was pre-sold/reserved. Thank goodness people are patient and were willing to wait on another litter. What a nightmare! I'm just thankful it wasn't worse.

Dawn, How do you like Blue Buffalo so far? I have had great success with that food. I found it when the wife's shih tzu was getting sick from all the corn he was eating and then started feeding it to my border collie (different formula). Both dogs are nine years old and have more energy than they did four or five years ago and their coats have never looked better. I put my Lab on it when I got him last year and I have been very impressed with his conformation and stamina. It's a little more expensive than what I would like to pay but a couple vet bills that I don't have to worry about is more than worth it in my opinion.
I thought about going to 4Health, as it is cheaper, but with their history of recalls and contamination I have decided it's not worth the risk.

I thought about going to 4Health, as it is cheaper, but with their history of recalls and contamination I have decided it's not worth the risk. Definitely NOT worth the risk! We have most of the dogs on the regular Blue Buffalo and they all seem to be doing fine. The big Commando boys and Rusty are on the Wild for the added protein. They muscled up right away! It's only been about 10 days, but when you consider I switched them cold turkey, it must be easily digested because nobody reacted to the quick switch. Since we were feeding Acana & Orijen, Blue Buffalo is really inexpensive by comparison. First I was shooting for no soy, corn, etc. but now I look to go completely natural with veggies & fruits, etc. The dogs are all doing great and the stools are much more compact and readily decompose. Yes, it's almost twice the price of 4Health or Diamond, but vet bills for multiple dogs will wipe out any savings in a heartbeat. Not worth it.

It does seem that Diamond has been having more problems than other brands. I have been feeding Black Gold for years and my dogs perform extremely well on it. My males are generally 60-65 pounds while the females around 50-55. I feed them approx. two cups a day and hunt them year round. I recommend the PERFORMANCE BLEND 26-19, the dogs have great stamina and do not get too fat even when I can't hunt for a few days. Compton Warehouse in Menard has the food for $32/50# bag. Adios, Gary

Hey Iron spikes, did you report your situation to Diamond? Everything I found / read about the most recent recall said that only a few humans had problems from handling the food, no dogs were reported to have gotten salmonella. But I easily could have missed something.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
