Hey guys and gals,
I am considering a pup and have seen the vislas with no experience. I am looking more companion than hunt but will be going with me on a few hunts dove and pen birds. I have been around english pointers my whole life with some gsp and es as well. Also how do you think they would be at tracking deer and shed antler hunting? Please give me thoughts would even entertain taking one that just doesnt have the hunting fire and give it a good home. Just love the hunting breeds.

Dont tell me you shot the 4 point for the meat when there are does all around.

I bird hunted with a man a few years back that had a Vislas. Great dog and a good retriver. The dog was very protective of it's owner. I could pet the dog as long as we were not very close to the owner. For some reason if I tried to pet it while standing close to the owner he would grawl at me.

I have a bunch (6) and hunt a lot. I'll put them up against any bird dog out there. They are great companions as well. They will learn whatever you want them to learn, blood tracking, etc. Great dogs!

Although I run GSP's, I will plug for the Vizsla as well. GREAT companion dog and good hunter. They are much more user friendly than the GSP's. And best of all, they have no body odor. Good luck with you choice.

Thanks for the input, as good companion / house dog in this case is just as important. And now that the spelling was corrected I can move ahead with my choice. Doubleb if you breed or have contacts in your area if you would pm them to me . I go through your area quiet frequently.

Here is mine on her first track.

Mine is 90% house/companion and 10% hunting, but that's my fault not hers!

Nice bhtkevin,
thanks for sharing and thats more of what I am wanting and I am positive it will be more house buddy than hunting buddy. If you have any breeder info please pm me as well with that info.
