.308 is just the smokeless powder baby of .30-06. It's usually cheaper although someone said elsewhere that there are more choices. That's true unless you pay for exotic brands or roll your own but .308 ammo is generally cheaper (and it will stay that way until major militaries stop using it). In any case, .308, .30-06, .270 are all fine rounds that will kill the crap out of pretty much anything you poke with them.
She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.

I am not looking to buy a 270, I have two 30-06's. I was just asking why some people say the 270 is better. I personally think the 30-06 is better, but always willing to listen to others reasons.

Same reason Chevy beats Ford.

It doesn't break and cost a crap load to fix 200 miles after the warranty expires?
Or it gets more ladies?

I'm no ballistics expert, but I'd tell you the .270 is a little more flat-shooting. That said, the main reason I love mine is that I've been shooting it since I was a kid and am therefore very comfortable and accurate with it.
Generally agree with the Ford/Chevy comments.
But I'm gonna be a diamond someday

Had a 1984 Chevy PU, 36,054 miles on it. Threw a rod through the engine while sitting at a red light. Never moved again. Chevy said it was using poor oil...and out of warranty....I worked at a gas station while going to college, it had only ever had Exxon Uniflo every 3000 miles, as listed....
1989 CHevy Caprice, 36, 072 miles, catalytic converter stopped up, smog pump burned up, car wouldn't run....yep, out of warranty...
I have owned one Chevy since....and you have to take the battery cable off it every time you kill it or its dead when you get back in it...
Drive Ford's.
