Do y'all know if there has ever been a bolt action with this caliber or even a company that does customs with this caliber?

Those are the 2 that I know of. The Savage shows up from time to time. The Remington rarely does. In the last 30 years I have seen one Remington 788 in 30-30.

I have a older Stevens 30.03 that was given to me from my mother in law that belonged to her father. Guessing 50 years old. Still looks pretty good and still still shoots good.

With the price of 30-30 ammo I am suprised there are no new bolt offerings in that caliber. Not a great caliber but still a loyal following. Might be some new single shot offerigs on the market.

The 30-30 is a great round for what it is supposed to be and what it is supposed to be shot in. But putting one in a bolt rifle is like putting a 4 banger in a corvette.

Disagree I currently have a marlin 336... It cant come close to the accuracy of the savage bolt I had.

30-30 bolt makes for a great short barrel bolt rifle

Who said 30-30s were dupposed to be accurate, is best suited for 50y encounters in the thick stuff, in a short fast rifle. None of the stuff a bolt excells at. Want a good short barrel 30 cal bolt action get a 308.

1/2 the recoil and you think a 30-30 is only a 50 yard gun now that's funny.. And fast is about practice most people cant get back down on any type of rifle for a quick reliable second shot...especially at 50yards..

All rifles are suppose to be accurate..what's the point in owning a none accurate rifle...thought those where called flint lock and black powder..

I didn't say it is only a 50 yard gun, I said it is best suited. It is a brush round no one ever bought a 30-30 and said this is my 200 yard gun, you holdover is carp. It is a great round for what it is, but I can't think of one situation hunting with a bolt gun where I though man I wish this was 30-30. Or wow I really want to do a custom 30-30.
On the other hand if I were to buy a leve gun right now, it would be a 30-30, but I would wonder why I was throwing my money at it in a bolt action version.

What was that quote "Only accurate guns are interesting". I have seen and owned some sub MOA Marlin, Winchester and H&R 30-30s.

I never tried any of the boltsction 30-30s but if I find a 788 in 30-30 at a good price I will be giving it a try.

30-30 in a bolt gun would be a reloader's dream, only if the magazine would hold pointed rounds tho. The added velocity from a longer barrel, and the better ballistics of a pointed bullet would wake the old 30-30 up.

Still tho, I doubt it would do anything that the 308 couldn't do better. Strictly from a "function" point of view.

It is what it is and it will never be nor should be a 308.
What it is in a 788 and Nosler ballistic tips is a tack driving really sweet shooting 200 and even further rifle.
At 250 yards you can absolutely wreck a coyotes day with a 125 grain BT.
Is it something that I would seek out? nope, but my father has one and I have played with it enough to know it for what it is and respect the hell out of it.
It is just fun is about the best description I can give.
And while it will never be a 308 or a 243 in its range it is scary deadly with its mild recoil and accuracy.

I've got a Savage 340 in .30-30. This was my first deer rifle. I used to shoot the 170 Core-Lokts. These days, with the Hornady LeverRevolution it is a great Hill Country rifle. In fact, it's the rifle that gets loaned out to most new guys I take hunting with me. Handy, accurate, mild recoil, and plenty of punch out to 150.

To address your question, I believe the Winchester 54 was offered in 30-30. Most likely Winchester did not know anything about 30-30's or bolt actions according to some people.

Second reason for a bolt, when I bought 3 Savage/Stevens I was reloading, long before Hornady Leverammo was introduced. I loaded my 30-30 with all type of leftovers and gimme's. Armadillos and possums didn't seem to notice the difference in the 130, 150, 165 gr spire points. With the bolt action there was no worry about the tubular magazine shoving the bullet deep because the crimp was too light.

Third, crimping is not so critical with a bolt action. I used to load some squib rounds to shoot around the house (ranch) and could load the 110 gr plinkers light enough for the recoil sensitve people.

Fourth, Why not ?????
