Going to buy a 9 to mostly plink and go to range . Sticking with the 9 mil as ammo is cheap. I shoot about 500 a trip and go to shoot every other week . This gun will get USED . Thanks For advice

I own a glock 19 and it has always been reliable and shot every type of ammo I've used. I carry it all the time it is one of the only pistols I have that I will never get rid of. And there is a TON of aftermarket stuff for them. Can't comment on the S&W cause I've never shot one.

M&P fan myself. But everyone's different. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I bought a M&P .357 sig. Like it a lot and have thought about getting a 9mm just cause ammo is cheaper.

If I don't get the M&P 9 my other choice would be Glock

Have shot but never own an M&P. They're good.

I own and carry a Glock 19. Live it and wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm a loyal Glock guy.

America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. Claire Wolfe

I think if you are buying modern (& decently made) handguns it will boil down to personal preference. Both the Glock and the M&P should be reliable, and should stand the test of time. Test fire both models, and whichever one of more comfortable is the one you want.

That being said, I am a loyal Glock 23 (.40) owner with over 4,000 rounds down range. Exactly ZERO failures in about 4 years. I trust my life to it every day, and I have no interest in owning an M&P. The next handgun I buy will be another GLOCK (9mm).

My wife and I both own and carry Glock 9mm's, trust them with our lives. I even swam across a river with mine came out of the water firing and emptied the mag with no failures. Love it take it everywhere.

I have a glock 19 that gets used, abused and keeps asking for more. Shot a couple M&P's and the trigger was close to the Glock but just did not feel as good as the Glock. Neither will win a sexy pistol contest so it's going to come down to which pistol fits you better.

Is there a range close buy that would let you shoot both?

My vote is for the Glock 19. I carry one everyday and trust my life to it.

Flip a coin. Both are reliable gun and accurate guns. All comes down to preference and features. I recommend the M&P9C, its right between the Glock 19 and 26 as far as size goes and it has a rail. The M&P needs to be broken in though. I have owned all 3 guns mentioned and carried them.
