Well David looks like you have said what you had to say ,That wasnt me who spoke with you when you returned your deer. Also that deer dosent have or looks like it has bugs. When you where on the phone and stated your deer sucks,I got the message. As for my wife dealing with you was because I was working not that im hidding from you, Why would I be scared to talk to you.I tryed to make you happy..I have alot of customers that are happy, and I don't think your deer mount is gonna ruin it for me it is a nice mount.Have A NICE DAY!!!!!!!!! Wow. I think I am going to side with the other guy on this one...Sure wouldn't give me much reassurance with a response like that. Most folks would be willing to make it right Might have been better off hiding

From your responses and attitude, it doesn't seem like you tried to make it right. Perception is pretty difficult to get off the internet, but you don't seem concerned, first you say you met him, then you didn't, then you were too busy to meet him... The mount looks like hell. No ifs/ands about it. Seems that if there was a misunderstanding about the position, you would have talked with him and explained the mix-up, then told him what you were going to do. Not take a crappy cape, make a crappy mount and have your wife give it to him since you were so "busy". My

I was working when he came to pick the deer up,I took the deer out of his hand when he brought it back..I told him I was sorry he felt the way he did. I was not there when he picked it up. all he had to do was leave it there and tell my wife he still wasnt happy. But instead he calls and tells me his mount sucks and lesson learned.I would have gave him 50% of his money back.

My mother was a professional artist. I was raised around professional artist. The one thing that the good ones all had in common is that they were the most critical of their own work. As such they would strive for perfection.
I consider taxidermy work to be very closely related to art. So my question is very simple. Are you, Animal Scanner, pleased with your work on this deer? After seeing the pics of the actual deer and compared side-by-side with your mount, are you satisfied? Are you proud to have your name and reputation associated with that mount?

And as you know in life you cant please every one. Seems like if you wanted to make him happy, talking to him and telling him you would give him 1/2 his money back would have solved a lot of the issues. Might have left him with a bad taste in his mouth and left you with one less customer, but wouldn't have made you look like a coward with an attitude. From the responses on this thread, I am sure that there are a few folks that would have hung up on you. You are correct. You can't make everyone happen, but control of collateral damage and mistake management is an important part of business. I also agree...there is no way that is the same cape.

I was asking a serious question.
If you are satisfied with this work then you are not a topnotch taxidermist and never will be. If you aren't as critical of your own work as other are then you are relegated to a professional life of mediocrity.
If I wasn't happy with my own work then there is noway I'd let it out of my door until I got right. The fact that you continue to defend and be defensive gives the perception that you are only trying to dodge the real issue.
You do what you want. It's only your reputation on the line.
