Was hoping to get opinions from those who have experience with one or both...
I'm in the market for a new shotgun and I'm pretty sure i have narrowed it down to these two. I have always been a Beretta guy but the SBEII just looks like a workhorse that could handle anything.

Flip a coin...you really can't go wrong with either of those two guns so pick the one you like and feels better to you.

Both are great guns but I prefer gas...so Beretta all the way.
If you do decide to get the benelli...make sure and get it dipped if its blk they are bad about rusting.

Both a GREAT guns and perform well! SBE II........more felt recoil and will only cycle 1 1/8 and above loads reliably. Easy to break down and clean, less moving parts! A400...........Cycles wicked fast! It's gas operated so will need more maintenance. Less felt recoil and will cycle light dove loads!
If I was in the market, think I would go with the SBE II ( I own one ). Its seen flooded timber, to fine sand in the peanuts fields of West Tx and has never let me down! You WILL FEEL it shooting the heavy goose loads ( 3 1/2 ) but recoil never an issue for me!Just make sure the bolt closes all the way or you will get the famous " Benelli Click". Hope this helps!

Are you stating that it will not cycle anything lighter than that, or that it will only cycle that load?

Anything lighter than 1 1/8th. Some have got by using 1oz but even the manual says 1 1/8th

I have a SBE II and it will shoot 1 oz loads but I always try and find 1-1/8 oz loads, I prefer putting as much lead in the air as possible. My SBE II will run all dove season, hunting almost daily without ever being cleaned. I have the older one without the comfort tech stock and it does have a little more recoil than gas guns. With that said I have never heard anything negative about the Berretta's and don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I own a SBE2 and an Extrema 2. I think as far as reliability they are both great guns and I'd buy whatever shoulders the best for you between the A400 and the SBE2. For me the SBE2 shoulders better but I've also killed a bunch of birds with my Beretta without any malfunctions.

It depends on what you want to use it for. I own both and would choose the Beretta for competition/clays and Benelli for hunting. The Benelli's best feature is that it requires less cleaning. The Berettas seem to be a little better built. Although some will disagree.

Out of the two I think Id go with the Benelli. I have at least one of each of the 3Bs, but I love my Benelli the mostest

SBE has a great 3 part system so it's very easy to clean. The gun has very low recoil due to the new inertia system. As a heads up after a few thousand rounds the forstock will wiggle a little bit but it will never cause harm. My benelli super 90 has done it for 7 years now. Good luck!

I've shot both and own a Beretta Xtrema2.
I would get the A400 over the SBEII and for me it isn't even close.
