We use the landscape lights from Lowes, either the one single or the three light unit. Both have a solar panel with them and they work great. We have had two of the single light solar units for a year and they are still working, although the light is just a little dimmer than it was when it was brand new, but for the price it is a good deal. I think the single unit costs around 20 bucks and the triple light unit is around 45 dollars, both come with solar panel. We just hung a three way last week on a hole we dug just for hog hunting. Also, one of our single light setups has been submerged in water(flood) and still works. Hell of alot cheaper than the actual feeder lights the big feeder companies sell, and they are also brighter, but dont spook the hogs. Hope this helps, Levi

I think you should scrap the light idea.

Set up a game cam, and a bow stand right neer the feeder. Then strap a cheap $15 C cell LED flashlight from home depot to the barrel of your rifle.

When the game cam flashes, u know the pigs are there.

Point, aim in, turn on the flashlight and.... BLAM!

I've seen this set up and it works great. The only difference was the colored the inside of the lenses with a red marksalot.

Lowes and Home Depot have round 5 LED lights that are powered by 3 AAA batteries. The one I bought have 3 positions Off/low/high. You simple touch them to turn on/off. I made an "X" with a light on each end of the "X". I also made the X so it pivots in the middle, easier to carry and store. I place it on top of the feeder. You have plenty of light to shoot. I don't know how long the AAA batteries will last but mine have approx. 6 hours on them and still very bright. The lights run about $5 each.

I got the motion activated solar light at lowes for about 70 bucks, and I finally got to use it tonight. It is plenty bright enough, I made the shot from 200 yards.

helomech,
How bad did it spook the hogs when the light came on?

The ones we hunt are pretty jumpy critters.

Last night was the first time a saw a hog under the light, and he was not bothered by it at all. He was eating when i shot him. I will go and take a pic of it in a minute when I go and check my cameras and hog trap. I will post the pics if you want me to.

Here are some pics of the way I set mine up. The first one is the whole thing, even still has a little blood near the corn.

The second one is just the light.

Solar panel

This one is a shot off my house, it is 200 yards from the light. I shot from the side of the house.

Then a little blood by the corn.

I see deer at the light more than the hogs. The first night I saw it go off I got so excited grabbed by gun and ran outside only to see 2 deer at the light. That was the first time in my life I was made that I had a deer in my scope. I did not shoot them.

Caprocker,
sorry about the late reply, the lights we use arent motion activated, they come on with a light sensor right before dark and the charge lasts all night, just face the solar panel to the south. the housings are black in color and the lights are just your standard led color, we dont color them red or anything. we had hogs in just a few hours after we put the single one up, we had our camera on it, and got quite a few pics. didnt put the cam on the three light set up, but my cousin has already hunted it and seen hogs. they are less than the 70 dollar unit helomech was talking about, but more than the battery units dlallder was talking about. the ones we use are worth it in my opinion, all we do is bowhunt though, i personally havent paid attention to what the light does from a further distance, but with the three light set up it might be okay. the three light setup has one solar panel with three wires going to the three lights, we just ran the wires on the barb of a fence by the hole we dug and put the lights on the t-posts, works great. levi

I put my new game cam on my light last night. I saw a deer at the light before I went to bed, I will go and check my cameras in about a hour and will post a pic.

I put my new game cam at the base of the telephone pole that the light is on. Last night was my first night to have a cam there. Here are a few pics from last night. I had 43 pics total, a deer was there 4 different times, and stayed about 5 minutes each time. Then a few hogs came in.

I don't see any motion lights on that site. I want a motion light, so when I look out my back door and i see the light on I know something is there. I don't want one that stays on all the time.

helomech now you need to hook the light to a bell in your house to wake you up at 4:48 when you have hogs at the corn.

Yeah I would love to put some kind of a buzzer, but it is about 200 yards away. And the voltage on the light is low, and I don't think it would carry that far.
