..... but is there any kind of paintable or roll-on substance out there that can applied to a wooden sided blind that dries like a fiberglass coating. I've even wondered about that rubber stuff you can get at Lowe's that you can roll on to the bed of your pickup, sort of like Rhino lining..... ? ? ?

Must not be too stupid since nobody has an answer.
What about Fiberglass resin and if you wanted to make it stronger, fiberglass cloth with the resin painted over it.
I've seen some people roll the bedliner ( usually on the roof ) to waterproof it.
What kind of results are you hoping to accomplish?

I guess the results I was hoping to accomplish would be to pretty much preserve the decomposition of the OSB siding over time without having to put coat after coat of paint on it constantly.

fiberglassing isnt very hard. Its kind of like painting, all it takes is some resin and fiber sheets. Roll it on, let it set and paint it
Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.
Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Another post on the forum in another area suggested 2 coats of Kilz Primer and a good paint job. Should last 2 years.

No such thing as a stupid question brother.
I would think fiberglass would be your best shot at not having to mess with it again.

The bedliner material was one of the things I was wandering about, if anyone had ever applied it to wood and what their thoughts were on it.......

It's not a stupid question, as I have been thinking about a similar idea. I have also considered a quality deck treatment. The superior brands will provide 10 to 15 years of protection.

I used spray can/spray on bedliner on the sides of my wood pirogue with paint over it. It has held up extremely well. I bet it would work and easy to apply. Might need a few cans though. I know the roll on type which I used on the floor of my piroque would be quite expensive once you cover all 4 sides of a blind doing it that way. You could just side over it with sheet metal for less. Or even a corrugated green or brown fiberglass.

Rhino Liner & Epoxy paints are made to go over steel and concrete. I doubt it would work too well over wood. Wood flexes, bends, contains moisture in it, has larger cracks, etc. Not to mention bugs, wood peckers, etc...can destory plywood & OSB. Go with a higher quality primer and paint should get you 5+ years out of it. Over treated plywood 10+ years before having to repaint.
Fiberglass on the other hand would work like they do to encapsulate wood in a boat. But the cost and trouble would probably be just as high as buying a new fiberglass blind.
We put flat metal panel on the outside of our wood blinds. Haven't had any problems since. Got tired of repainting and wood peckers.

If you use a rubber type sealer like the bed liner, you might want to staple some 1/2" or 1/4" square wire to give it something extra to hold onto.

Rico, we have used the white mobile home roofing sealer sold by Lowes cant remember the brand name but it has a 7 year no leak warranty. It works really well and once it dries it is a thin rubber, siliconized layer that last is flexible and waterproof. I know it works on my stands and my wife and I built a Haunted House attraction over three years ago using a lot of osb and it is all coated with the stuff. It works really well. She has now come up with a different mix of portland cement and paint that they spray with a hopper that is hard and waterproof with a stonelike finish but I think the mobile home stuff is what will work for you, then paint over the white to tone it down. Hope that helped works for us quite well. Oh and BTW if anyone wants to come to one of the best Haunted House attractions in the state...look up "Graystone Haunted Manor.com" please be a patron as you are helping to support a fellow hunters hunting attraction...

Well, I don't know about all of the bedliner products--but I tried two at Walmart and the poster above was correct--it was terrible. Black rubbed off all over. Would not dry. Got on everything. The good paint job seems to work the best.

I put 2 gallons of Thompsons water seal in a garden sprayer and hosed the whole blind down. Then Kilz, then paint. 8 years and still strong.
