I've been eyeing either a PM40 or a PM9 but haven't had time to do much price shopping on them yet. Just found a used one, probably 90%+ condition, comes with Big Dot night sights, box, and one mag. $525. How does that price sound? I'm about to go do some research on gun broker, etc. as well...

I love my PM40. It's a great gun. That price sounds pretty good.

I've owned a PM9, PM40, and CM9. Out of the three, I'd take the CM9 hands down- they're around $420 tax included. They just came out with a .40 version, but I wasn't nearly as happy with the .40- recoil is a bit snappy...

I'm not worried about the recoil but was leaning PM9 just because of the lighter weight and the extra round. Still on the fence about this PM40... If it was a PM9 it would be a no brainer for me.

Don't know alot about Kahr, just a quick look on Gunbroker, shows me they are all low capacity in 40SW. I have been on the fence on whether to pull the trigger on a M&P 40 Compact or Bersa Pro Thunder.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but is Kahr even worth looking at versus the M&P or Bersa.

Kahr gets great reviews and is SMALL. I've been comparing it to the Kimber Solo and Sig P290 and it seems to be a better option than those two.

If you're looking solely at a .40, and don't mind the next size up from the Kahr, I have a very nice Glock 27 that I'd get rid of. Bigger than the Kahr, but also a lot more capacity. And still a small gun.

I've just gotten spoiled with my LCP and would like to get a better round with not much more size.

I have tried Glock, I am one of those who just can't seem to ever feel right with one in my hand. Good pistols, they just don't feel comfortable.

You need to compare pistols in each class- single and double stack. The Kahr is a single stack magazine pistol designed to be light weight and small. The compact M&P and Glocks are double stack, and are larger frame. These are 2 different type of pistols with different price points. You can carry a Kahr almost anywhere on your body. The double stacks add more weight and size.

I bought a Kahr CW9 brand new once because I was looking for a pocket 9mm. I was following a thread "My Kahr Goes Bang Every Time" in a handgun forum, it was like 5 or 6 pages deep with people talking about how great the Kahr was. Then I went out and bought a CW9 brand new, and it was a POS. I will never touch a Kahr again. At first, I thought it just needed to be "broken in" as the user manual suggests, 250 rounds until it is ready. Well 500 rounds later, it was still stove-piping and the magazine would actually FALL OUT when it was fired. Literally, without touching the magazine release, the recoil of the gun would release the mag.

During those 500 rounds (2 or 3 range trips), I actually have TWO range officers walk up and talk to me about it, and both gave me a response along the lines of "Oh, yeah, Karh? Those are terrible."

So I don't know what to tell you - at first I found dozens of avid handgun shooters who love Kahr and actually carry them for personal defense, trust their lives to a Karh. I will never touch one again, and I'd recommend you don't either.

On a side note, I have put well over 4,000 rounds through my Glock, never had any fail to feed or jam issues...

Just my two cents.

Congrats on your purchase, you're gonna love it!

I have a PM9 and love to shoot it, never any FTF or FTE's.

They are a well made pistol!

When somebody is selling a pistol, the usual line is "less than a box run through her" or "less than 200 rounds down the pipe". You tell me a Glock has had 10,000 rounds through it...and I'm good to go. It's just getting broke in good. up
