I had to join the crowd and go chase some Oryx around. This bull was right at 36" and my wife went with me and took a 31" cow (I don't have any pics of hers on my computer yet). I will say, on our hunt anyways, it was alot tougher than expected. Long story short, with quite a bit of walking and rolling around in the ranger, it took us two full days to take both. I got mine just after lunch the first day and my wife took hers with about an hour left of daylight on the second day. We had an absolute blast and now I have the dadgum exotic bug!

Thanks everybody. We went to CottonWood Creek Ranch in Gatesville. It's about 40 miles west of Waco. The Ranch manager out there, Buster, is a super good guy as well as our guide, Wayne. This was my first animal with my new Remi 700 264 win mag.

Thanks for letting me work on ya'lls trophies.
Here is a picture of the bases they decided to display them on.

Will be stunning once completed, congrats again.

Thanks RB. You had some amazing work there in your shop and we cannot wait to get these back later this summer. Thanks for taking the time to work on these for us!

I realized that when we passed the signs on the way to Gatesville. Wish I would have looked a little closer and brought my trailer and grabbed some of your stands. You still wanna come up for pd's in a couple of months?

Nice animals. They are addicting. I was doing good I had managed to go more than 2 years without an exotic..but couldn't resist the opportunity at an Oryx myself so took one...then an opportunity for a fallow came up (hunting it this weekend)...you are a lucky man, my wife neither shoots them nor understands! smile

In reference to the last two posts, I do feel pretty dang lucky. My wife has always enjoyed the outdoors but after we met, she took to shooting and hunting like a duck to water. My buddy and I were talking about going on this trip and then she said "what about me". He ended up having to work when we went so he went the next week and took his. I feel very blessed to have a wife that shares this passion with me!
