I ordered this a while back when I thought hauling frac sand was going to put cash in my pocket. That didnt pan out like I hoped, but I am sure glad I ordered it after seeing and handling it.

The handle is Black Walnut that grew on the Colorado River on the ranch I grew up on in Wharton, County. My Grandfather started there as ranch manager in '37. I was 3rd generation to grow up on that ranch before it was sold in the '80s.

A tiny piece of my youth in that knife along with a bunch of Mike's exceptional craftsmanship.

Thanks Mike.

BTW, I also plan to have a stock made for my rifle out of the same wood. As well as making a set of grips for my Black Hawk .357. Sort of a set if you will.

Great looking knife with a great story to go with it. Post up a pic of the rifle also.

Nice work. A good story behind the knife really adds to the ownership value.
Enjoy.

I like hearing about scales and "things" being made from wood that has history. I have some wood that was saved during clean-up after the hurricanes around Beaumont O hope to use some day...
Very nice knife

Sweet knife and story! We'll want to see the other stuff when you get them done. That's a great idea!

I plan to make the pistol grips very soon. Then the rifle stock will be ordered in a month or so.

My Grandfather was ranch manager til he died in '71 then my Dad took over and stayed til the end in the late '80s. I killed a lot of deer, squirrels, coons, possums and tons of ducks and geese on that place as well as loads of catfish out of the river ( about 3 miles of frontage )

Thanks for the compliments and thanks again Mike for the great work.

Yes, great story. I can look at Mike's knives all day long. Always beautiful and clean as a whistle. up

Awesome knife and I really like the family heirloom value of it now. That is going to be a family treasure!
