Anyone ever hunt whitetail in this area? The area is about 10-12 miles north of Antlers, OK (about 60 miles north of Paris). I've got the opportunity to give it a whirl on about 165 acres of remote and heavily timbered land in this area and was wondering if anyone who's familiar with the area can tell me what the hunting is like or what to expect.

Thanks!

i think its a sin for a texas hunter to go to oklahoma to hunt deer.

j/k. i have relatives who live up there, i don't know if they allow feeders or not, but i would imagine hunt them just like anywhere else, stake out trails and funnels

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Yessir....they have! Plus many of the locals have been on several of the Travel Channel, History Channel, and Discovery Channel episodes telling about their various encounters!

Plus their biggest event.....

BIGFOOT FALL FESTIVAL

Seriously? This is fenced, gated and marked private property with a house and everything that I've spent quite a bit of time at as well as the family that owns it (including during deer season) and we've never noticed any trespassers or signs of them. Not saying it isn't happening, just curious as to why you think so.

I saw one of those shows about "Southern Bigfoot" on the Discovery Channel or something like it. The terrain where they were conducting their "search" looked eerily similar to the place I originally posted about. Have to check and see how much an out-of-state Bigfoot tag runs up there....

Lots of deer and pigs up around that area. I hunted a place near antlers and there were some big deer coming out of there.

A buddy's dad is a sherriff in Rattan.. Lots of big deer up there.. Had the poop scared outta me one night..
We had set up behind some round bales in one of his hay meadows, and started calling coyotes. All we had were bows...
About 3 or 4 minutes later, I hit the light and if there was 1 there were 15 coyotes surrounding us. About 60 yards and closing.
We let them get close enough in for a shot. I let one arrow fly. Hit him. The others DID NOT RUN OFF. I started getting nervous then. I hit the light and started screaming like a mad man. Those coyotes just trotted off like it was no big deal.
That was the first time I have ever been scared of an animal attack..
Anyway, lots of big deer up there in the mountains. Locals do take their fair share though..

It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

McCurtain county is one of the roughest in Oklahoma. There's alot of hidden mariquana fields and meth houses.

A buddy of mine walked into the wrong place at the wrong time and had to do some fast talking to make it out.

The law officers are also bad arse.

It's beautiful country. Definitely stay in well known areas.

Should we really look down on these guys who are trying to better themselves by gardening? Could you imagine the struggle they must have in the spring planting season and having to use all their sudafed for other purposes. I feel for the folks I really do. Mobilehoma is a tough place to live.

I thought Orn lived in Simms not Oklyhomo. When did he move up there or is that his second factory area.
