Got my four (blue wings) this morning the hard way. Flooded rice out near Eagle Lake and the doggone fog didn't lift until at least 9:30. We could hear them over us but we couldn't see them. No wind and it got hot quick. Eight breasties going on the grill this evening!

Nope. Just on 1 teal while dove hunting. Only 2 blue wings on the whole 30 acre lake near Meridian. Last week, there were 30 to 40. Go figure. Got some dove though. Caught a bass retrieving one of my dove with a worm.

Now here's a fellow who knows how to prepare for anything. Shot a teal and some dove and caught a bass, which means he had a fishing pole with him. Gotta admire the planning there.

We hunt out in Nada, but I heard a large corporation bought out about 50K or more acres out that way, so I am not sure if this fellow still has his farm. Will know later this year. Any geese showing up yet?

We should have shot our limit. They were just too close. We had full and modified choke and were shooting about 10-15 feet at teal. We got 3 blue wings. How do you tell the difference between male and female blue wings this time of the year? It was a blast. It was our first real teal hunt.

It may have not been the most successful hunt, but it was probably the neatest hunt I have ever done. We had a flock of teal fly 4 or 5 feet over our head at full speed just before shooting time.
24 looks best when it is upside down

My roommate from college guides for them. I have not heard how he did.
Saturday not one bird, did not see, did not hear, did not anything......nothing. They were gone...then on Sunday no teal at another place, they were gone too....we only killed two water snakes and one rattlesnake, both near the flooded field we hunted in.
This morning, headed out to a pond close to Benbrook and hammered them...got my four in about 20 minutes and was on the way home within an hour. All bluewings.

Gee dude; you want him to give you GPS coordinates too. Do your homework like everyone else and scout for the birds.

It is pretty tough when you launch a boat and go to a spot earlier then most on public water then it is when you get out of a truck and unlock a gate and drive to a pond, lake, creek, etc..........
I doubt much info will be given out on the locations of many concentrations of ducks. You have to scout, you have to keep quiet about it, and you have to hope nobody beats you there the next time.
Best you will probably get will be suggestions on where to go look

To me...local is from border to border. It is not uncommon for me to put 15,000 miles on my truck from September - January. There are birds here locally...just have to get out and find them. If you hunt public...the amount of time you spend scouting is directly proportional to the amount of success you will have

We did well, as I posted eairlier. Hunted with Larry, and his son Saturday morning. Was a thrill watching his 7 year old shoot his first teal.

My buddy called me and said they got zero on Saturday, somehow the levy broke and most of the water was gone when they got there....Sunday they had a better hunt.
I am hoping he will come dove hunting with me this weekend, down south, but he may be guiding again. He said a lot of groups did well, some did poor, but it seemed successful.
