TWEEDER,
I HAVE DONE 5 DEER THIS YEAR, I SKIN AS MUSH OFF THE HEAD AS I CAN THEN I SLOW COOK THEM IN THE TURKEY POT OUTSIDE. I ADDED ARM&HAMMER WASHING POWDER IT SAYS WITH COLER SAFE BLEACH ON THE BOX ITS NEXT TO THE LAUNDRY SOAP AT HEB. EVERY TIME THE SMELL GOT TO BAD I WOULD THROW SOME MORE IN THE SLOWER YOU COOK IT THE BETTER. YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE SOMETHING AND RATTLE THE BRAINS, EYES OUT AS YOU GO.
THE NOSE PIECES BREAK OFF EASY, SOME SUPER GLUE WILL FIX
IT. ITS NOT THAT HARD. THE CHEAPEST PLACE I FOUND IN S.A WAS $130 SO I SAVED $650. KEEP READING POST ON THE FORUM THIS IS WHERE I LEARNED ALL THIS.

I just pulled the hide off mine, and the let the ants take care of the rest. They did a great job, then I just used bleach and peroxide to make it white. But I haven't fiqured out how to mount it on a plaque. Do you have any suggestions?

I like the driftwood backing on them. Good job!

When he was young, I told Dale Jr. that hunting and racing are a lot alike. Holding that steering wheel and holding that rifle both mean you better be responsible.

Like said above, boil and keep chunking meat off. Use a coat hanger and/or flat head screw driver to scrape out the brain. I scraped and then stuffed the inside of the brain, nasal, eyes, etc with borax washing powder($4) to absorb any smell. Once everything was cleaned, I boiled it in a half water/half peroxide solution for 10 minutes at most(got the large bottles at walmart for $1.89 a peice). This peroxide was already diluted. I glued the nose peices and teeth back on. I made a base for it, pre drilled holes and then put a couple of sheetrock screws in it.

Remember when boiling to keep the horns out of the water, especially with peroxide. I duct-taped mine and wraped them in aluminum foil. If you do get some bleaching of the horns, use brown shoe polish or wood stain to touch them up.

Some people use a wicking process or paste where they mix the borax detergent with peroxide and apply it by itself or with cloth to the skull. This supposedly makes it easier to not bleach the horns. I've never tried this yet.

This post below is my first one. I read and talked to a bunch of people before and it's easier then you think.
