I'm sure this is already on here somewhere but I was just wandering if broadcasting protein from our feeders would do much good. Obviously it won't be as good as gravity feeder but I'm heading out to the lease in the morning and didn't have time to get some protein feeders ready, so just wandering if it would be worth the $$ to feed the protein this way. Any input is appreciated.

Depends on where you are located. But for alot probably not due to as wet as we have been across a lot of the state and as green as it is in a many areas. One spin feeder in the scheme of things will not do much good IMO. Just keep the corn going as long as they are cleaning it up.

We are located 15 miles NW of San Angelo so it's pretty dry all year. But due to all the rain lately it is fairly green out there.

Mother Natures feed is cheaper and better so I would wait till you got some free choice feeders ready.

Walden, it can't hurt. I have on/off protein fed from spincast feeders on my small property, the past 3 years. I can say that when combined with corn, I have attracted more deer than just throwing corn. Something different for them to browse on. I know the antler growing benefit and overall health benefit is better when concentrated in a gravity feeder but that was really not my sole goal. I was looking more to augment and attract more animals and it did that. That said, be very careful with the heights you set your spinner plate and the durations that you throw. Personally, I found that composite barrel feeders were better at spin casting protein than metal barrelled feeders. STXRANCHMAN informed me that protein sweats and condenses, wanting to clog the funnel and spinner, especially more so in metal barreled feeders. I will continue this mix until deer season.

I do it from my Capsule Feeders and it works great, the deer seem to go through the self feed quickly, and when broadcasting it keeps them coming back if I miss a couple of days between getting them full.
Also seems to help with game photos.
