Ive been doing some research and noticed some of the new LED lights are rated to produce as much as 800 lumens .
I want to get a new scope light with an adjustable beam or standard pin point beam. I hate a flood type beam for night hunting , it lights up the brush and anything behind it is easy to loose.
What works for you guys ? I want opinions from actual users please not "arm chair" varmint hunters
thanks

you should look at laser genetics sub zero. It is laser obviously but you can adjust or collimate it precisely.

Yes, Bushnell makes one. It's an LED that you can change the size of the beam, like a Mag light, and change the shape of the beam, like into a square (instead of round).

The G3 bowlite has a high/low setting with an easy to use trigger. The low beam is good for close shots and seeing were your going. And the high beam is consentrated and will allow you to see over 200 yrds with a scope

Check out the Coast LED Lenser (I have the P17). At the broadest focus the beam is about 30-35 degrees and floods well out to about fifty yards. At the narrowest focus it's a spotlight that throws about the same or a little better than a surefire 6P. It runs on AA (or maybe AAA, I would have to go open it up to be sure) batteries instead of the expensive CR123's and the "hot" functional life is a LOT longer than any xenon system. The only problem with the Lenser is that the body is not a regular 1" tube like most other flashlights so you would have to jury-rig or go proprietary ($$$) to mount it to your rifle.

Coast makes a variety of focusing lights and I haven't looked at their catalogue in a while; they may have something that perfectly fits your needs.

^^^ This
Any of the laser genetics lights are awesome!
I've hunted with them 4 or 5 times... can see a clear view of the animal from about 300 yards
when you adjust the laser correctly.
Awesome product but it's a little of the expensive side.

I want to be objective here, and I have read alot of your comments. I have done extensive research and design on the new CREE XP technology vs the more costly NP 3,4,& 5 Lazor Genetics technology. Granted it is superior, but at a hefty price tag. I noticed one comment about COAST LED Lenser light, Coast does not even sell that light anymore. That was dropped in mid 2011. They created a light of there own which we use in conjunction with our outdoor lighting products. Also Coast has custom designed a green light version for us, for which we almost fully eliminated the halo beam and reconstituted it into the bullseye beam. This made it a very tight tactical beam which creates the perfect nightime shooting environment. We eliminated over 60% of the halo beam in this design .This little fellow will blow a beam that is very effective at the 150 to 200 yard level. It will cast a beam well in excess of 300 yards. I can't say enough good about Greg Windom and Coast Portland as a company. We use their XP-25 and the light they helped us custom design, the STIK N SHOOT SNS200G. Be happy to tell you more.

I swear by the elusive wildlife XL250. I doesn't have an adjustable beam but I haven't seen any need for it.

You just said that the laser genetics is a superior product but then you start supporting your friends... and also a product that i've never heard of!

If it was me i would spend the the extra cash for a proven superior product! 2cents

NastyNate: The Lenser is legitimately a great bit of gear. I wasn't clued in that Coast isn't selling them anymore until I read that post. They only offered white CREEs when I bought mine (P17 was a typo, mine's the P7), but it has served with distinction as a kill light. The white light is certainly at least as covert as a green laser and I can see a German dot reticle on a black pig at a 120 yard feeder setup no problem.

Hawglite makes the Goblin. A green Cree LED with pressure switch for your finger. Played with mine out to 250 yards no problems-

+1 Laser Genetics. I've had one of their ND3's for almost a year - very effective.

There aren't many adjustable beam illumination systems out there.

As people have mentioned there is the ND-3 and the ND-3 SubZero. The Subzero was made to counter the issues they were having with the ND3 failing in 'freezing' temperatures (actual testimonials comment on above freezing temperatures still failing). Overall the concept was great, but sometimes it can be a finicky product to setup.

If you are looking for a fixed lighting system that can still achieve what you are looking for there are several options out there including ours.

As far as lumen ratings goes, be careful on who tells you what. A lot of the lights out on the market are touting higher than actual lumen ratings or taking numbers from white light illumination vs actual output (of the green or red).

i bought my XLR250 from these guys. super fast shipping and a great product. I bought the Laser Genetics too and here is my opinion: its a good light and it is very cool but it scares critters away something awful. I shined it on deer, coons, skunks, coyotes, a fox and about anything else i could find and every one of them ran when i hit them with it. i'll stick with the XLR250
