... around the east Texas area. Wanting to get my first Eastern as well as getting my kids their very first turkey period. And I would prefer to do this without spending a load. Any ideas?

Curtis I hope someone gives you something specific to work with. Am Northeast TX hunter born and raised. Birds were stocked over 20 years ago and have really havent done well. Spotty at best and best spots are usually private land. Can get ur type 2 permit for public land and try lands around Caddo Lake for permit hunts. Have tried for two years just couldnt find em. There are some there but tough hunting. I hear that there are some birds north towards Paris area but dont have any further info. Hopefully someone can help you out with some better info. Am curious myself as have thrown in the towel am heading to Arkansas for easterns this year.
