I am sitting in the stand waiting for pigs to show up and out of nowhere these radio collered dogs run all around my feeder this is the third time it has happened spooked pigs one time and a nice deer during the season. I sit back and hope the owner will come by but I have never even heard him. I have checked with the land owners around me and they say they have no one hunting with dogs. I have much respect for every type of hunter. But this is really starting to erk me! I have herd them out working quite a few times. What would you guys do!!!!!!

If they were wild dogs I would take them out in a heart beat , but these dogs are just doing what they are trained to do. I would shure love to get a hold of the owner!

Shooting somebody else's dogs isn't legal from what I gather from Texas code, sort of like shooting another person's cattle on your property isn't legal.

Upsetting your hunting isn't justification, I am afraid.

You can, however, intimidate them.

Catch'em, take some empty beverage cans, tie to their tails, put in a few pieces of gravel, along with a note sayin', YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR DOGS ON PROPERTY YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO BE ON.

If you can catch one with tracking collered take the coller off. The owner will find you.

what kinda dogs are they ? an where where you hunting ? do the neighbors hunt with dogs ?

Sounds like hog dogs and from previous post on here, they feel they have every right to go on any property if they are following their dogs...and of course once they kill the pig, they will return to their original property.

Catch the dogs if you can. As was said, take them to the pound or hold them with the tracking collar. Owner should find you.

Good point. Just made an assumption and very easily could be wrong. Also to clarify, I don't think all hog doggers are that way

they prolly got tag on them with number , call it an explain to them whats happing , you never know yall may turn in to hunting buddies , most guys with dogs are real good guys an dnt mean any harm but some times dogs get on other places

There are two hounds and some kind of pit mix it looks like I can't get them to come to me . Both hounds have tracking collars the other doesn't . I am hunting north of Athens . All neighbors say they have no one hunting with dogs.

That there is a good idea. Better maybe to give it to the Game Warden and when they find him he can give them a ticket.

This is right. You cannot kill a domestic dog that wanders onto your propertry unless it chases livestock or it acts in a way towards you that makes you fear for your health or safety.
I had a young yellow lab completely ruin a hunt one time by walking under my stand the running down to the feeder. He came back and was whining below my stand wanting to play. I was heated because we had seen him before and had game cam pics of him. I wrote a note to hte owner telling him to keep the dog on his own porperty, wrapped it in a ziploc and ziptied it to hte collar. hopefully that will work.

I had a great pyrenese and bull mastiff coming up to my place pretty regular. We would see the tracks everywhere. Drove around looking for the owners but no one claimed them. Every one said to shoot them and that people leave there dogs out there all the time. Both had collars on so I really didn't want to shoot them. We finally baited them into a horse trailer and hauled them to the pound. Saved thier lives for a while but I don't think the pound keeps dogs that large very long before they have to put them down.

I would bait them into a trap if they wont come to, and hopefully they have a tracking collar on, so then the owner can come to you. This seems to be the only choice you have, since as you have already stated they will not come to you. Just be careful, if you do bait them and trap them, they may not be too happy about it, and try to bite, you never know with unfamiliar dogs.

We finally ended up catching the culprits last night. I saw them shining lights and walked up on them turned out to be a seventeen year old and two fifteen year olds. They about jumped out of they're clothes when I put the spot light on them. On of the fifteen year old ( was crying cause he was so scared) ended up being the grandson of one of the neighbors he was letting his buddy run dogs without permission. The other fifteen year olds parents didn't even know he was out of the house( also crying for fear of his dad). I had them lay on the ground until the neighbor showed up. He was mad!!!!!!! Said if I let him take care of it there would be absolutely no more problems. I had the feeling the boys were going to get way worse than a ticket so I let them go with him. The father called me a little bit ago and apologized and said for the trouble he would have the boys come fix a gate that has been needing work. We will see! Needless to say never saw a pig but it was an eventful night!!
