Any good quality eating establishments in Hondo? Heading down for three days tomorrow.
Also, anyone recommend decent "Cantina" for a drink.
Thanks.

Hermansons is a must go.

They also have a good Jalisco.

As for a bar, hermansons has one I think but a lot of the locals go to the "shop" in quihi

Castroville, Sammys Enchilada's or Cora's just out of town back
towards the lake...excellent enchiladas and bread..and the beer
is not bad...You might try the cafe in the town just past Hondo
Cafe is at last RR crossing just across the track...DD

If you are talking about Villa's, it's only open weekends.

Hermann Son's is the best bet. Full bar and most any thing you could want on the menu from grilled hand cut steaks, chicken fried, to sea food, it's all good.

For breakfast, you had better like tacos or eggs ranchera cuz thats about all you'll find here.

You'd be better off driving 30 minutes to SA

Best place to get a drink in Hondo is to buy a six pack in HEB and drink it back at your lodging.

Why in the heck would someone go to Sammy's in Castroville when you could go to Bill Miller?

I guess Hermann Son's or McDonalds is the best bet.

I damn near grew up in it. Lol. My grandpa, dad, and uncles all farm in Hondo. Family still lives there. Been there more times than I can possibly count. That and the dance hall. Kinda wish I was there now.

Nothing wrong with Hermann Sons, I've been eating there for the past 30+ years when passing through there.

Bartender, bring me anything except brake fluid, cause I don't plan on stopping!

Billy Bob's Burgers on the west end of town used to make a decent greasy homemade burger. Hermann Sons is ok also.
