Spring break is almost here and I'm ready to go home and visit my Grandad's place in Coryell County I grew up hunting on along the Cowhouse Creek. Here is a pic showing the results of one of my Sunday morning hunts I went on a fews years ago. About 20 hogs showed up to my protein feeder. Using my .270 while sitting in my deer stand, 4 shots equaled 4 dead hogs. Was able to get some pics, grab the backstraps, and make it to the Sunday service at my church.

Nice hogs. Good job. How long does it take to bleed them out before you can cook them?

I typically age all my meat in a fridge for about 1-1.5 weeks before cutting the membrane off and storing in the freezer, aging is a big key to getting the meat to taste tender. If its a younger pig that weighs around 50lbs, I typically don't worry about aging. I don't necessarily hang the meat and let it bleed out, I just let the met age and in that process the blood typically leaves the muscle and is left in the bag the meat was in.

I don't have this weapon anymore, It had literally been through the war between several owners and me ending it's days with a couple hundred pig kills and a dozen + deer, lol. The scope is a Millet 6x-24x with a 56mm lense. It had do e it's time as well (focus lense finally broke) got it from an old sniper friend. My new setup is a Weatherby VG1 with a Bushnell elite 3-10x. That gun is shooting very nice! The Ruger was awesome in its prime, just always wanted a different stock, not a big fan of the concaved design.
