So by next year my current job will keep me wealthy enough not to get on a lease again, always great to look forward to. As a result, I'm interested in getting a crossbow to give me more opportunities in the public hunt drawings next year. I'm not wanting anything fancy, just something good enough to bring down deer.
What's your suggestions or opinions?

I bought a Parker Enforcer at Cabela's in January and have REALLY enjoyed it. It's an absolute tack driver! I've taken it on a few hunts already & it hasn't let me down. I killed a big oryx and a 175lb+ hog with it. I paid right around $450 for it. It is much smaller and lighter than the Barnett and similar other brands. I shot just about every bow in the store & the Parker by far had the best trigger as well. If you can make it to Cabela's, swing by and shoot it. You won't be disappointed. http://parkerbows.com/crossbows.html?action=detail&detailsku=1101Here's the oryx I took with it.

In all seriousness, thanks for the info. Gonna check it out. Gig'em

Not a problem...hope it helped. Let me know what you end up getting. I know some of us crossbow guys catch some flack from the archery purists, but I don't care...these bows are an absolute blast to shoot/hunt with. You won't regret getting one. Wreck 'Em!!

The best crossbow we have found and are currently using is the Horton reverse limb crossbow. My wife and my buddys wife both shoot the Horton and it is unbelievablly accurate out to 50 yds and is the quietest and most compact crossbow we found. Unfortunately it is a little more than $500 (approximately $750 on sale) but believe me waiting and saving a little more till you can afford it will be well worth it. My best recommendation is go to a place like Cabela's who carries a lot of diffeent brands and shoot them all in their indoor range. We did and the Horton was hands down the best of all.

one of my longtime friends bought the barnet ghost 350. It is amazingly accurate, and right at 500 dollars. There all fun to shoot but ive only shot 2 and out of those 2 that ones my favorite. So just my limited opinion.

The TenPoint crossbows are very well manufactured. They are am amazing company that continues to support me and my old crossbow that was made by them before they changed their name. Around 20 years old!

from what im reading with the exception of the reverse limb horton (which i really wanna shoot) most people love whatever they buy. the tech. is advanced enough now that there all going to be somewhat equal, each brand i believe focuses on a certain charactoristic i.e speed, sound and overall performance. Just go to bass pro and shoot a few and see what you like.
