Didn't weight it but it was stout. Took a long time to skin with a sharp knife too. It wasn't shot

We shot a few in college while bow fishing... that is a fun adventure all in its own. You are right they are a pain in the but to skin, and have a weird sweet smell to them.

All joking aside, try cooking some of it, its not bat at all.

Are you serious about eating beaver, no pun intended. Thats the first I've heard of that. Interesting.

beaver is not bad to eat at all IMO. Tastes pretty good. Ive only had it a couple of times but my grandfather has been hunting/trapping and eating them his whole life. Historically many people ate it. The mountain men ate lots of beaver. The lewis and clark expedition ate beaver and survived a winter off of beaver and beaver tail.

Matt - Be careful on what species you are taking bow fishing or hunting on public waters, taking any species other than waterfowl is prohibited.

Restricted Areas in Counties
It is against the law to:

•hunt any wild animal or wild bird, including exotic animals, on foot or from a vehicle on any public road or road right-of-way, or a boat on public water, except that migratory waterfowl may be hunted from a boat or any floating craft (except a sink box) under certain conditions. (See Migratory Game Bird.)

If I had to guess its weight I'd say mid 40's. Seen a few that were killed put on scales that look to be about the same as yours. Pic might be miss leading though. Anyway it goes its a good one.

That is a big dam beaver for sure! Beavers occasionally invade my folks' place and I will sit for them a few nights hoping to shoot one and then give up and set traps. The folks were okay with having a few trees cleared away by the little guys initially, and then they started coming up to their house, about 100-150, and taking their fruit trees! That put an end to the free ride for them.

The largest one we took was 35 lbs. and it looked small compared to the one in the OP.

That is a heck of one too! Cool skull euro, I should have thought of that, but after all the effort of pelting it and coyotes out I was done for the day!
