Im interested in buying one of the two options.I know how to shoot but don't know differences in caliber and different types and styles of guns. I am wanting to get something like an AR. I currently have a .270 and really like it but want a semi with power enough to kill anything a .270 could, but I don't know where to start. I know AR-15's have multiple calibers, but they don't have anything more powerful than a .223. Is that right? I basically need a crash course on what to look for. Brands and calibers etc. want to be able to replace my .270 with this weapon. Please someone school me. Thanks.

A buddy has an AR10 platform with a .260 set up and it puts a quick hurt on anything he shoots with it.

.260 or 6.5 or .243 would be my choices...good to think about ammo avalibility if your not going to reload...that would cut out the 6.5

Brownells has a video on how to build AR's for around $20. You may not want to build your own to start but it will definitely educate you on options and give you things to think about that you otherwise might not take into consideration. When I started buying AR platform guns I over spent and then spent more down the road to get the gun worked up the way I really wanted. My primary go to AR for hunting (under 200 yards) is my 6.8 SPC. Just my 2 cents worth.
